This is magazine advert is to promote Jay-z’s album ‘The Blue Print 3’. The fist

thing of significance when someone looks at this advert is the colour scheme,

the contrast between the red lines in front of all the white instruments

signifies the importance of the three red line as this is promotions jay z’s third blue print album. The middle of the

poster is heavily populated with lots of instruments this could have been done

to show that the advert is to do with. The white in the colour scheme can connote perfection and cleanness where as the

red can connate danger and and violence these two colours paired

suggests that the the album may be cleans with a hint of danger. The artist name ‘Jay z’ has been placed at the top of the page and the album name and

release date at the bottom this follows the typical codes and conventions of adverts more over the main image

doesn't’t follow the typical codes and conventions as main images usually consist of the artist but in this case

instruments this could have been done as Jay z feels enough people know his

name with out having to see a picture of him. The typography being used is a

simple all capital san serif font with the artist name and the release date it bold letters to show that they are of higher

priority.

The main image fills up more than half the page and is the main focus of the poster, the

image is a close up shot of the main artist Jessie J, in this photo she has black lip stick,

hair, nails and black top on, the use of all this black could have been done to show a

dangerous side to Jesse J, moreover the artist tends to use very bold colour and this is somewhat like her signature. The artists facial expression looks like she is singing

this may have been done so people that don’t know her may be able to tell that she is a

music artist. The colour scheme being used is black, white and gold these colour

combined create a luxurious and gothic vibe. On the middle of the page is the name Jesse J is wrote in a bold gold font, with the album

name in a white hand written type font. Below the image are the names of two of her singles and her website this has been added as it tells people that she was the one who made that song for those who don’t know

furthermore the use of names such as b.o.b entices people to but the album because of that track. The bottom section of the page

shares the same colour scheme with the top section to show that there is relationship

between the two setions of the advert. Moreover the gold font has been used on importnt text i.e name, sell lines (debut

album, international smash) and white on less significant things.

This advert is for Rihanna’s album ‘Rated R’. The main image is of the artist with her hand

on her face this may suggest that she has something to hide or may be implying that she has one eye open at all times, implying

that she is aware of everything which happens around her. The artist is wearing

lots of jewelry this follows the typical convention that R&b artists wear lots of

jewelry to show wealth and status. Thus use of a ‘parental advisory’ logo on the left

suggests that artist wants to be rebellious furthermore this is re-enforced by the choice of clothing and make up a it makes the artist

look gothic/ evil. More over the logo also signifies that her content is for mature

audiences. The name of the album is in a very faint font above the artist name this suggests that it isn't of importance. The

artists two singles have been wrote in a red font the is the only colour on the advert this

has been done so that people know that these songs are in the album and that Rihanna was involved in these songs.

Another feature in the background is the r on the right of Rihanna this could mean rate r or Rihanna which can confuse the audience

further more may make the audience feel intrigued and may buy the album. the style of this advert looks more like a punk/rock this may have been done to attract new

audiences to the album.
