• As of 2011 end, China had a total of 180 airports for a comparatively much larger
population of close to 1.34 billion people.
• China’s airports market is one of the world’s largest, contributing more than one-third of
the global development spending for airports.
• However, the rate of airport development has been outpaced by the rate of passenger
