Partnering – the new telco
business model• In a similar vein to the development of partnerships with network vendors as part of managed outsourcing
deals on the network side, telcos have recognised that they cannot provide the required level of service innovation that their customers are demanding in-house.
• In response to this problem, a number of telcos are looking to drive service innovation through initiating partnerships with other service providers/third parties. This evolving business model sees the telco acting as a smart enabler, providing third-party businesses with access to its distinctive assets (billing, CRM etc), which in turn facilitates the creation of additional services for the telco’s platform, which can then be rolled out to its subscribers and monetised.
