Eagle West Extracts Car from Excavation
On September 2, 2010 a two car accident took place at Main Street and East 30th in Vancouver B.C. and with a major construction site in close proximity, things took a turn for the worse. A sedan barreled through the site’s safety fence and plummeted into a large excavation, four stories below.
The site belonging to Trafalgar Enterprises, a Vancouver based real estate development company had crews at work just hours before the crash. Thankfully, the project was clear of workers and amazingly both drivers survived the accident with only minor injuries.
Although the insurance company wanted to delay removing the car, Leo Pascuzzi, Site Superintendant for Trafalgar Enterprises knew he could depend on Eagle West Cranes to provide the precast and crane services needed to safely and efficiently restore the job site to working order.
With the safety fence damaged, cement barriers supplied and installed by Eagle West were used to secure the exposed construction site. Then, utilizing a remote operated, 60 ton folding boom crane the hazardous and unforeseen site condition of the car was removed. “I called the morning after the accident and needed a crane to pull out that car A.S.A.P. The service I needed was done the same day I called,” commented Leo. By enlisting the services of Eagle West, the project schedule was recovered without any major setbacks due to the unforeseen circumstances.
