Open access to scientific publication and research data in the wider context of dissemination and exploitation
Open Access in H2020

‘As open as possible, as closed as necessary‘
Projects may at any stage OPT OUT (total or partial) of the Pilot but need to say……WHY:
• incompatible with the Horizon 2020 obligation to protect results if they can reasonably be expected to be commercially or industrially exploited ;
• incompatible with the need for confidentiality in connection with security issues;
• incompatible with existing rules concerning the protection of personal data;
• if would jeopardise the achievement of the main aim of the action;
• if the project will not generate / collect any research data;
• if there are other legitimate reason to not take part in the Pilot

• Adjustments to the wording of the "aspects to be taken into account", under each criterion:
EXCELLENCE – refer to "inter-disciplinarity" and cross-sector/stakeholder involvement as appropriate
IMPACT – streamlined wording; emphasising more the impact statement in the work-programme topics
IMPLEMENTATION – each partner should have important role, and resources to match; clarifying that over-inflated work-packages penalised
• Dynamic threshold for first stage passing proposals

Conclusiones
53 15/12/2016
• “If you fail to Plan, you plan to fail”
54 15/12/2016

Evaluators' top tips for Horizon 2020 proposals*
• Read the call, the call objectives, the “key” points ….in the topic you need to fulfill all those aspects.
• Concentrate on the abstract and the three first pages clear idea of what it’s all about.
• Good illustrations, schemes, pictures, also links…..”make life easy”.
• Define the outcomes of the proposal, that there are something for the society and/or the industry.
• Be consistent in all parts (objectives, budget, person/month…).
• The consortium/the participants need to find what there is in the proposal for them.
• Really …..be involved in the preparation of the proposal.
• Read the proposal both with the eyes of an expert and ….a non so expert.
• Evaluators/Panel: Mix of academy and industrial (and even venture capital) and the proposal should fit them all.
