Different Types of Farm Equipment
Several types of equipment are used on a farm that help farmers increase theirefficiency, and in the installation and repair of various agricultural machines andhardware. This helps a farmer gain more control over all activities and increasehis productivity. The kind of tools used will vary according to the crop beinggrown, and the livestock present on the farm.

3 Main Types of Farm Equipment
1. Farm Equipment.
Machines like tractors and small utility vehicles, known as ‘Utes’ are used in the farmfor planting and tilling purposes. Some of these include pulling implements to spreadmanure in the field, plant seeds, and till the soil. The power take-off (PTO) method isused to transfer the power from the tractor’s engine to different components of theattached implement. For example, the tractor transfers its engine power to the tinesof the implement, which propels the manure outward and onto the soil.
Farms measuring less than 60 acres can benefit from smaller machinery like Utes.They can be used to pull trailers among other farm activities.

2. Field Implements.
Implements are machines that perform the tasks of tilling, planting seeds,plowing, spreading manure, etc. In this process, specific implements are used totill the soil. In this process, the soil is loosened to prepare it to accept seeds. Asa result, weeds and other wild plants are also uprooted. Planting implementsare used to sow seeds in the soil at pre-determined spaces. Different types ofplanters with varying capacities are used according to the type of crop beinggrown and the size of the field. A different set of implements are used to spreadpesticides and fertilizer in the soil.

3. Fencing Equipment.
Fencing equipment used to install and repair fences are essential on a farm.It is even more important for livestock farmers. For example, fence-postdrivers are used to install posts, specific pliers are used to install and repairgates and fences. Tractors and utes can also be used for installationpurposes.

Many more types of equipment are used in farms. The equipment is used tostreamline the various processes, as well as to reduce human effort as much aspossible. Automating most farming activities has led to more productivity, andhigher yields. This leads to more progress and growth of a country.
