• Plenty of human resources that can be used to facilitate future activities
• Almost 25% of the population is between the ages 0 – 5 and presents a great opportunity to initiate developmental programs
• Many residents will continue to transition in and out of subsidized housing without proper direction and resources

SWOT Analysis: Strengths
• Community participation is much better and residents have provided substantial input
• The community center is a great space
• Good programs are already well-established
• PHA staff interactions with the community (regular presence at the community center has created momentum)

SWOT Analysis: Weaknesses
• No real sense of community
• Kids have nothing to do (all ages-no stimulating activities onsite)
• Residents are complacent– no ownership, accountability, lack of direction
• Residents have a low capacity to improve their socio-economic status and this adversely affects morale

SWOT Analysis: Opportunities • Build on information provided through surveys and focus
groups
• A number of parents are expressing needs/wants: GED program, computer training, constructive activities for kids
• Utilize the parents & teens in roles as volunteers, mentors
• Bring mentoring/leadership programs onsite
• Use the abundance of human resources in the community
