Free From TV!Children as well as adults are becoming increasingly susceptible towards the unhealthy effects of TV nowadays. Do you know that TV is watched by 66% of US people during their dinner time? About 50% of American children aged between 6-17 years have TV sets in their bedrooms! During a typical day, 70% of day care centres use a television.

A few shocking facts:

1. TV is watched for 1680 minutes in a year by an average American youth2. Only 38.5 minutes is spent by parents to have a meaningful conversation with their children in US3. On a weekly basis, an average child is spending approximately 25 hours watching television. Thus, on a yearly basis the child is spending 1300 hours watching TV which is more than the number of hours spend in school (900 hours in a year)!4. A US child watches an astonishing 20,000 30 second commercials in a yearly basis!

There are various activities which are more fun and entertaining than turning on a TV and sitting at home.
