ABOUT LAKMELakmé is an Indian brand of cosmetics, owned by Hindustan Unilever and run by CEO Pushkaraj Shenai. Lakme started as a 100% subsidiary of Tata Oil Mills (Tomco), part of the Tata Group; it was named after the French opera Lakmé, which itself is the French form of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, also renowned for her beauty. Indian cosmetic Lakme was started in 1952, famously because the then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was concerned that Indian women were spending precious foreign exchange on beauty products, and personally requested JRD Tata to manufacture them in India. Simone Tata joined the company as director, and went on to become its chairman.
In 1996 Tata sold off their stakes in Lakmé Lever to HUL, for Rs 200 Crore (45 million US$), and went on to create Trent and Westside. Even today, when most multinational beauty products are available in India, Lakme still occupies a special place in the hearts of Indian women.
Lakme also started its new business in the beauty industry by setting up Lakme Beauty Salons all over India. Now HUL has about 110 salons all over India providing beauty services.
RECOGNITION AND ACCOLADES Lakme' has been ranked as 47th most trusted
brand in India by The Brand Trust Report. The company is the title sponsor for
Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) a bi-annual fashion event which takes place in Mumbai
LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL DESCRIPTION This is a smudge proof, water proof kajal which is dermatologically tested. With a deep black stroke in an easy twist up format, it gives your eyes a long-lasting, eyeconic look throughout the day.
Key features: Smudge proof Water proof: lasts up to 10 hours Safe for eyes Convenient Twist-up format
AVAILABLE COLORSLakme eyeconic is available in 6 different amazing colors: Black White Blue Green Brown Grey
PACKAGING The Lakme Eyeconic Kajal retails in a black and
turquoise colored carton cover case. The packaging of the kajal pencil is again similar to
the color of the outer carton case. It comes in a black and turquoise color combination; the packaging looks really attractive.
The kajal pencil comes in a sleek retractable form, which has to be twisted up for application.
Advantage there is absolutely no product wastage due to sharpening of the pencil.
downside As the kajal pencil is retractable, it comes out at the thicker end which makes it a bit difficult to draw very thin or sharp lines.
Hence, it is advised to draw small strokes at a time to help achieve a neat and precise line.
ABOUT KAJAL The texture of the kajal pencil is very soft, smooth
and creamy and there is no tugging or pulling with this kajal pencil
It glides effortlessly on the upper lash line as well as waterline.
The pigmentation is pretty good; it comes out as a deep black color.
But the claims made by Lakme to provide color in just a single stroke is not true; you need to layer it at least twice or thrice to get good color pay off.
The color being black instantly highlights the eyes and makes them appear beautiful.
The kajal pencil sets to a complete matte finish
quickly, within a few seconds after application. Hence, if you want to create a soft or smudged kohl eye look, blend it quickly; otherwise once it sets, it doesn’t budge at all!
The kajal pencil has an impressive, long lasting power. The formula stays in place intact, for hours.
It does not bleed, crease nor does it smudge. The Lakme Eyeconic Kajal is brilliantly
formulated. Overall, this product turned out to be the best budget-friendly kajal. It is a fabulous kajal. Hence, totally deserves a place in your makeup kit.
MERITS Not expensive. It will be a hit among the
young girls. Packaging is oh-so-good. Retractable twist up pencil. Soft and glides easily. Good pigmentation. Smudge-proof. Didn’t sting. Water-proof. Dermatologically tested.
DEMERITS Not deep rich darkest black. One may find
Maybelline darker than this. You cannot create a Smokey look with this
pencil. Takes a long time to remove, even with a eye
makeup remover. Not a full 10 Hour stay, as it fades slightly.
