LIVING ROOM SHOTS

Staff Room

We were searching for a place to shoot the living room scene in the school. We came to the staff room and found it like this. We searched for different types of camera angles that we could shoot in this room but never found the perfect one. It was just not the right location for us.

Corner of the room

We thought about shooting the living room scene from an angle which just showed the corner of the room. However the problem with this was we wanted to establish that Mrs Taylor was no longer at work and instead was at home waiting, worried for her daughter. We also didn’t want to show her at a desk again for the second time in the trailer.

Chairs

We found these chairs underneath the stairs on the ground floor. We thought about maybe using them and moving them to a better location. However we realised that they did not look like the type of chairs you would find in a house. So we moved on..

Main Reception

This is the sitting area in the main reception. We thought about shooting the scene here because the seats were perfect and they actually looked like ‘living room’ seats. The only problem was the red wall on the right hand side. We all knew that nobody has red walls in their house and it would make our scene look extremely unprofessional. So then…

Outside the main receptionWe decided to shoot our living room scene just outside the main reception area. We had the comfy sofa which we liked and we had a nice clean white wall to shoot at. This was perfect for our scene so we decided to use this as our set for the living room scene. We added props of our own to make it look more homely such as a pillow and a teddy. We thought about having the flower vase there too but it didn’t look right.

Perfect location

Nevertheless we managed to find an appropriate set to film our living room scene after searching through the whole school. Hard work pays off at the end right? Yes indeed.
