Key Findings

Although 96% of Millennials subscribe to Youtube, which is free, a majority of Generation Y is not afraid to pay for media services such as Netflix (77%), Hulu (66%) and Spotify (54%). If the service is good and meets their needs, our Millennials will most likely subscribe.

When we asked our Millennials which social networks they use the most, Facebook (96%) and Twitter (83%) were easily the most popular among our Millennials, but Tumblr (64%) and Linkedin (70%) are steadily catching up. Myspace (35%) on the other hand seems to have lost followers within Generation Y and may never return to what it once was.

Our Millennials seem to be pretty split on the idea of blogging (43%) and “vlogging”(52%). However, we are seeing more and more vlogs appear due to the evolution of sites such as Youtube and the commonality of video cameras and smartphones. This generation is becoming more likely to sit in front of the camera to express themselves or share their ideas than they are to write a traditional blog.
