Over Optimizing Meta DataExample of over optimization:

Target keyword: Big Blue Cars Url: www.yoursite.com/bigbluecars Meta Title: Best Big Blue Cars Meta Description: Read about the top big blue cars. !

Example of good optimization: Target keyword: Big Blue Cars url: www.yoursite.com/bigbluecars Meta Title: Best Large Blue Vehicles Meta Description: Read about top-rated blue colored sedans. !Note: In the first example you notice that the word “big blue cars” is in the url, the meta title, and the meta description. This looks very unnatural to google because it is the exact same long-tail keyword 3 different times. !In the second example you notice that the exact match keyword is in the url but both the meta title and meta description had variations of the keyword. By including variations of the keyword, you are able to better rank for the exact match keyword as well as other keywords without over optimizing.

Page 24: SEO Made Easy, A Methodical 10 Step Process For Rankings

Link Anchor Text ExplainedSearch engines look at anchor text from links to determine what a website is about.

!Example: If a website that is about cars links to your website that is also about cars, with an anchor text that says “Best Top Cars”, then search engines like Google will think that the site is about cars.

!However, you need to make sure that you look natural to Google. Example: If you have 100 links and 50 of them have the anchor text “Best Top Cars” this doesn’t look natural to Google. Not only will you not rank for “Best Top Cars” but you will most likely be punished by Google so that it is difficult to rank for other keywords as well.

!In order to avoid over optimization you need to only use anchor text with your high Page Rank websites. You will primarily want other links to have anchor text with:

-urls (www.yoursite.com) -generic words (click here, visit site, go here) -category words (cars, vehicles, trucks, etc…)

How to Get Links

Page 26: SEO Made Easy, A Methodical 10 Step Process For Rankings

How to Get LinksMake your site WORTH linking to!

!Don’t underestimate the power of posting on social networks: Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, G+, Tumblr etc.

!Do a search for your primary keyword, and make note of the top few sites that rank well for your key term, then enter those sites in OpenSiteExplorer or SEMRush.com

!Make a list of all the popular places they have links from, and start getting links from the SAME PLACES! Don’t copy just one site (not a best practice) rather, combine the links from a handful of sites, and start link building Hire an assistant from oDesk or eLance if you want to get this done easily and inexpensively
