SMALL BUSINESS MARKETING: WHY OFFLINE PROMOTION IS BETTER.
INTRODUCTION:
The world is gradually becoming a global village, virtually all business has its place on the internet and
we’re gradually living a virtual life, business promotion, business creation and other important aspect of
every small business is being conducted online, and the offline aspect of business are being neglected,
although the importance of social media and the internet on small business cannot be over emphasized
but the offline aspect of businesses should not be neglected, hence this article would explore the
benefit of offline business promotion, and how to make your business known through offline
promotion.
It’s targeted!
Offline business promotion to some may seems like an old school idea, but the fact still remains that,
offline business promotion is well targeted, your adverts is being displayed to the exact audience you
want, you get to choose your audience, decide when they see your adverts and decide how much you
spend on your adverts. Since offline promotion is targeted, it makes it a bit more effective than online
promotion, take for instance, you’re running an electronic retail shop in your county, paying for an ads
in the county newspaper, would prove to be more effective than targeting an online adverts. While it is
true that not everybody reads the newspaper, it is also true that not everybody that see online ads have
interest, so for a well-targeted audience, offline promotion is more effective than online promotion.
Less Competition!
If you’ve ever tried to create an advert online with any of the popular advertising company (Google,
Yahoo, e.t.c.) you would discover that, online advertisement is highly competitive, it becomes almost
impossible to push your ads to the public if your budget is not a huge one, since the objective of every
small businesses is to create a name for yourself in your niche with little capital, this makes it difficult to
overcome online competition in business promotion. Big companies are competing for the same
keyword as yours; the only way to outrun them is not to compete with them, because their budget for
advertisement is almost as huge as your start-up capital. If what you need is less competition and a
volume of valuable customers, offline promotion is the way to go for small businesses.
Cheap! Offline promotion is very cheap, compared to online promotion, this is so because you’re not in fierce
competition against anybody, you could run an offline promotion without incurring any cost, creating
ads fliers on A4 paper size, distributing it to passersby could go a long way in promoting your business,
while it might not bring customers to your office instantly, it would pay off at long run, simple because
whenever they need one of your service, they would check out the flier and contact you, I consider
offline promotion very cheap, since I don’t have to bid for a particular keyword and it’s not necessary to
hire an expert to help in setting up an offline business promotion.
Cost Effective!
While setting up an ads on the internet is not as difficult as offline promotion, the later is cost effective
when compared to online promotion, there is every tendency that some online visitors would click on
your ads and eventually leave your page before reading the content, this is not so in offline promotion,
your flier, or ads in the paper would reach several people, even after months of creating it, this makes it
cost effective since 80 to 90% of your offline audience would give some sort of attention to what you
have to say.
