Why should I care about using social media?

 • Twitter.com had 92 million global visitors in June 2010 (excluding applications usage eg Tweetdeck, Hootsuite and mobile apps)

• Facebook now has over 600 million active users; more than half of which visit the site at least once a day

• Facebook is the second most visited website in the UK (7.14% of visits in July 2010) • The age of the average web 2.0 (ergo social media) user is 33

• 44% of UK residents have a social media profile

• 8% increase in 2010 in people (UK) who have commented on blogs

• 23% - 45% of UK web users now access web content via a mobile phone
