I'maninnovator.Idevelopproductsandconnectwithpeople,wherewedoabitofco-creationandco-production,whetherthatbeonblogsorotherprojects.Mybackgroundisinhealth,butwhatIfindwithbeingonlineisthatyoucanconnectacrossawholerangeofindustries,anditgivesyouaccesstopeoplewhoyouwouldneverhavemetinyourday-to-daylife.

Icouldnolongersitbackandwatchwhatwasgoingonaroundme.Istartedexploringopportunities.IstartedtothinkabouthowIcouldmakeadifference.Whilethecompanywasmostlycomprisedofscientistsandresearchers,Istartedtothinkofuniquewaysmycapabilitiescouldcomplementtheirworkandaddvalue.Iknewthatitwasuptometocreateapathandnottowaitforsomeoneelsetopaveitforme.
Thebiggestimpactwehadwasinconnectingpeoplewithothersandwithinformationoutsideoftheorganization.Peoplewhowouldotherwiseneverknoweachothercouldnowcollaboratebecausetheywereinterestedinwhatweweredoing.Weworkedasacommunity,gatheringpeopleacrosssilosthroughsharedpurpose.
Ultimately,foralotofthischangetohappen,wehavetostartlookingwithinourselves.It’scountertohowmostofuswereraised.Wehavetodothisinnerworktolearnthewaytobeinbusinessinthe21st century.Weneedtoknowwhoweareasindividualsandwhoweareasorganizations.
Wemaythinktheseideasarenew,buttheyareveryold.Tobemosteffectiveintheworld,wefirstneedtoevolvewithinourselves.Theideaofovercomingtheforcesthatcouldbemakinguslesseffectiveiswhatwe'retryingtoworkwith,sothatwecanthenactintheworldinamorepositiveway.

Peopleoftenaskushowwedidit.It’ssimple:wewenttothepeople,welivedwiththem,andwelovedthem.Andwehelpedthemtocomeupwithwaystoaddresstheirproblems,becausethere’snooneintheworldwhowantstheirmother,daughter,orsistertodieinchildbirth.Whenwewereaskedhowwemadeitsustainable,I’dsharethatnotlosingacommunityorfamilymemberwasaprettyhighlymotivatingfactor.
Mydreamisforallwomenworldwidetohaveaccesstoasafedelivery.Itisnotacceptabletomethatanywomanhastodiewhilegivingbirth.Ourworkisongoing,andwearealwayslookingforfurthersupporttohelpsavemoremothersandtheirbabies.
