1. Product DescriptionG201 is an universal GSM interface with 4 digital inputs and 3 outputs, designated for automatic

emergency calls using a mobile phone. G201 works with the following cellular phones Ericsson: 6xx, 7xx, A1018, T10, T18, T20, T28, T39, T68, A2618, A2628 and R520m.

G201 has the basic function to transmit customized audio messages at up to 5 telephone numbers and remote control electrical devices from up to 5 customer defined “master numbers”.

The device could also send 3 user customized SMS (Short Message Service) at up to other 3 different telephone numbers. A new feature of G201 is the remote initiated “listen in” function, which is based on the caller ID recognition of the master numbers and allows an audio monitoring of properties. The remote initiated “listen in” feature is useful for security purposes as well as for baby care or medical monitoring services.

The 18 programmable parameters allow the user to program and install the GSM Controller in tens of standard or custom applications like: home or office alarms, car or boat alarms (with remote disable function), independently working or in connection with an existing alarm, remote control for door or gate openers, audio and digital monitoring, etc.

3. Setup of Voice and SMS Features / download of Program Codes

For any programming operations, first must be removed the case cover witch is keep closed by two screws. For test listening audio messages a speaker or headphone must be wired into the J1 connector. Minimum impedance must be 16 ohms. For select & play audio messages SW2 must be pressed for a certain number of times according the following table. Once a message was selected and than automatically played, the following record operation will overwrite the current message.

Voice paging and SMS (optional) notification: When a valid trigger appear at one of the 3 inputs, the GSM controller starts the dial cycle. At the beginning of any emergency call initiated by the GSM dialer, the identification message (audio message no. 4) is played first in order to inform the called party about the origin of the alarm (street address or car number). Afterwards, the corresponding audio message for the input triggered is played 3 times. In case the SMS function has been selected, the corresponding SMS will be send out before the voice call if both options (SMS and voice calls) are enabled.To play an existing audio message (or select a message for the next recording process) select the message place you want to play with a corresponding no. of pushes at SW2. The LED will flash accordingly the number of pushes and the message selected will be played. After playing a certain audio message, the memory pointer for next recording will remain at selected message location until next play/selection occurs.To record a new message, after the desired recording location (1,2,3 or 4) is selected with a corresponding no. of pushes on SW2 and the existing message on that location is played, recording process could be started pressing continuous on SW1. Start to speak your message after a short beep is heard in the test speaker/headphones or after led switches on signaling the start of recording. The LED will stay on during the record process as long as SW1 is keep pressed. The optimal distance for speaking is 4-6 inches from the microphone. If SW1 is released, the record process will end with a short beep. If the maximum length of messages is reached during the record process, 2 short beeps will be heard in the test speaker/headphones, the led will switch off and the record process will be stopped automatically. After the end of any recording operation, the new message will be played automatically for a final check. The LED will light during the play and record operations. Audio messages 1,2 and 3 are associated with the input zones Z1, Z2 and Z3. Message 4 identifies the property, owner or place of installation. Detailed explanation of SW2 play/select operating mode: push the SW2 button according the number of a storage place (1…4) to start playing pre-recorded messages. 1,5 sec after the last selection push of SW2, the LED will confirm with the same number of flashes the command entered (for example for 3 SW2 pushes will be 3 LED flashes 0.25 sec. on / 0.25 sec. off). Immediately after LED finished the confirmation flashes, the operation selected will start: play an audio message for 1...4 pushes or, “download from SIM” operation for 5 pushes. For more than 5 valid pushes, G201 will discard the command.For SMS programming* delete all SMS from the mobile’s phone SIM card and memory. Edit the text message associated with input Z1, enter the destination telephone number, press the "Send" button and cancel the operation immediately with a “stop” (or “No”) command. Select the "Unsent" messages folder where the previously edited message is located now and select the “Save” option for this unsent message. The Message will be saved in SIM card location No.1.Repeat this operation another two times for the messages related to Z2 and Z3 until the SIM card has saved 3 SMS. For further information about SMS operations, please refer to the cellular phone manual. SMS from SIM card location #1 will be send if Z1 input is triggered, SMS from SIM location #2 will be send if Z2 input is triggered and SMS from SIM location #3 will be send if input Z3 is triggered. The destination number could be different for each one of these 3 SMS. Please notice: * The automatic SMS sending feature can be used only with G201 connected with newer phone models like Ericsson A2618, A2628, T10, T18, T28, T39 and R520. The older Ericsson 6xx, 7xx or A1018 will not perform this operation.

For download of programmable parameters (please refer to section 4) make sure the DIGIT CODE has been stored correctly in the SIM card and the phone is properly connected with the GSM controller. Push the button SW2 5 times to start the download. 1,5 sec after the last push of SW2, the LED will confirm with 5 flashes the download command and the GSM interface will execute the “download from SIM” operation. After the download is finished successfully the LED will confirm with 3 fast flashes. If the LED confirmation doesn’t come, the download operation must to be done again. During the download from SIM automatic operation the led will be on. Only if operation completes successfully the led will flash three times at the end . After this operation is done successfully, and the call list and settings are saved in the nonvolatile memory, the mobile phone could be replaced with a older 6xx or 7xx model. The disadvantage of this older mobile phones series is that the remote function based on caller ID number recognition, download from SIM operation and SMS sending will not work; only voice calls will be initiated with this old models. The download of programmable parameters must be done mandatory every time after any changes are made in the calling list numbers or in the DIGIT CODE, in order to have effect the new settings.The audio messages and the telephone numbers will be available in non-volatile memory of G201 series even without power supply for a long number of years.

4. Setup of controller Parameters - DIGIT CODE*and phone numbers Program the telephone numbers in the desired order in SIM card phone book, beginning with SIM card location 1. Connect the cable between mobile phone and GSM interface using the proper connector adapter. Let the mobile phone minimum few minutes after power on to finish internal operations (loading from SIM). Store in SIM telephone numbers no longer than 20 digits each one. After the last telephone number saved on SIM, an 18 digits “phone number” must be stored on SIM, representing the programmable parameters, as shown in the table below.Important notice: Even if some parameters have no effect in the current configuration selected, it must be programmed an allowed value in the respective location. After DIGIT CODE must be stored in SIM a "one digit" telephone number to indicate the end of the settings. Check the mobile phone battery status before download from SIM operation. If low battery is indicated, wait for charge or connect the phone to a standard charger for fast charging. It is strongly recommended to have the battery of the cellular phone fully charged with a standard charger, before continuing the installation with G201. Regarding the store of the telephone numbers in SIM card please notice that the numeric order is not the same with alphabetical order. Refer to your cellular phone manual in order to store the calling numbers and the DIGIT CODE in numeric order (“sort by position” option enabled in phone-book menu of the mobile).*For this operation use only Ericsson A1018, T10, T18, T20, T28, T39, T68, A2618, A2628, R520m.The old models Ericsson 6xx, 7xx will not respond at this operation. These models could be used only after the G201 is programmed with the indicated mobile phones.

5. Description of Controller Parameters:

1 Number of masters

All numbers from calling list can be "master". This parameter defines how many from this numbers will have this feature. From a master number G201 can be remote armed / disarmed in stand alone mode or the outputs could be remotely controlled in optional mode only. Remote arm/disarm is also possible in optional mode.

2 Outputs activation time in alarm

Determines the output activation time (how long will sound the siren and lamp flash) for outputs OT1 and OT2 in "stand alone" mode. In optional mode has no effect.

3 Arming delay Sets the delay time between arming moment (using arm input) and the moment when inputs Z1, Z2, Z3 become available for triggering. Could be named “exit time”Remark: always remote arm/disarm is instant, even delayed arming is selected.

4 Functional mode Select the functional mode between "stand alone" and "optional module" options. Main difference between these two functional modes is the output handling.A) In "stand alone" mode OT1 can drive a siren (with an additional relay) and OT2 can drive car’s position/direction lamps(with an additional relay).B) In "optional module" outputs could be remote controlled by master calls. Output OT1 is pulse type (0.25….., 2.5 sec. pulse width), output OT2 is flip-flop type.

5 Arm / disarm by master

Enable/disable the remote arm/disarm when master calls are received by G201.In stand alone mode this parameter is always considered set. To disable remote arm/disarm in stand alone mode, parameter No.1 must be “0”=no master numbers.

6, 7, 8

Trigger type for Z1, Z2, Z3

Usually, the inputs must be programmed with negative trigger for car alarm sensors types shock, microwave or for door/hood/trunk switches, or other NO (normal opened type). Positive trigger must be set for NC (normal connected type) home alarm sensors (PIR, glass-break, magnetic, smoke). All inputs are pulled up by the internal 10K resistors.

9 Arm input polarity

The polarity of this input must be set to negative for most of cases for example of connection with the starter disable output of the car alarms.

10, 13, 14

Valid trigger duration for Z1, Z2, Z3

This parameter set the minimum time duration of a valid trigger applied on inputs zones Z1, Z2, Z3.

11 Z1 input type Instant: the alarm cycle starts immediately. In stand-alone mode the outputs will be activated and the dial/SMS cycle starts. In optional mode the dial/SMS cycle starts without any associated result on outputs.Warning: at the outputs will be generated 4 short pulses when Z1 is triggered in stand alone mode only. In optional mode Z1 triggering in warning mode will have no effect. Emergency: input Z1 is permanent active, independent from the arm/disarm status. This mode could be used in emergency situations; for instance car hijacking when the driver (victim) could press a hidden switch to activate a silent alarm. Delayed: in case when remote arm / disarm is not possible, input Z1 could be programmed as "delayed" type, allowing entering in the car / home with a short delay before alarming, enough to disarm G201 using a contact key / keypad / switch.

12 Delay value for Z1

Set the delay of input Z1 when is selected as delayed type. Could be named “entry time”

15 Pulse width at output OT1

This parameter sets the pulse width at output OT1 when a call from a master number is received. This parameter has effect only in optional mode. This pulse on OT1 could be used for remote gate openers.

16 Activation of listen in function

Has effect only in optional mode. If 16# is enabled, G201 will answer automatically at any master call and remain in audio connection with microphone activated until caller hangs up.

17 Outputs OT1, OT2 status if is alarm generated by Z1 in “emergency”

Takes effect in stand-alone mode only! This parameter enable/disable outputs for alarms generated by Z1 input when is set as emergency type. The result will be a normal or silent alarm.

18 Announcing Mode

Defines how an alarm will be announced via the cellular network. When it is set to “0” it works like a voice pager only. If it is set to “1” it sends out Voice messages and SMS, if it is set to 2, only SMS will be transmitted.

6. Function of GSM Controller in “stand alone” mode (parameter no. 4=1)

G201 series has two basic statuses: Disarmed - inputs Z1 (except in independent 24h mode), Z2, Z3 are inhibited and programming functions are allowed (SW1, SW2 active). Armed - a trigger on inputs Z1, Z2, Z3 start the alarm cycle (dial numbers and outputs activation), and programming functions are inhibited (SW1, SW2 not active). The functional status of the GSM Controller can be changed in two ways: changing the voltage level of the “arm” input or/and with a phone call from the master(s) number(s). Remote arm controll is allways enabled in stand alone mode and programable in optional mode if “arming by master” parameter is enabled (set to value=1).When the GSM Controller status become “armed” this is signaled at both outputs with one pulse. When the GSM Controller status become “disarmed” this is signaled at both outputs with two pulses. The activate/deactivate confirmation pulses are shorter at output OT1 (for siren command) and longer at output OT2 (for flashing lamps command).A change (arm/disarm/) of GSM Controller status with a remote call is possible only with mobile phones Ericsson A1018, T10, T18, T20, T28, T39, T65, A2618, R520, and A2628. A remote change (arm/disarm) of GSM Controller With cellular phones Ericsson 6xx and 7xx is not possible.Arm/Disarm by master call: When the GSM Controller receives a call from a master number; reverse it’s functional status (armed or disarmed) and rejects the call. When the status becomes “armed” this will be confirmed with a short call-back to the remote phone, that will result in a “miss call” message on the mobile phone display of the master, or in one up to three rings, depending of the speed of the local GSM network connection or provider GSM equipment. This call is just a confirmation for the remote command and must not be answered by the master.Important: When mobile is plugged in connection with the GSM Controller, its status (profile) will be change automatically in “hands free” mode. The “answer mode” (of the phone plugged in) must be set to “normal”, not “automatic”! For this settings refer to the mobile phone manual. Both control modes (remote or local) for changing the arm status of the GSM Controller status can be used in one application.Alarm monitoring: If G201 is “armed”, a trigger on inputs Z1, Z2, Z3 will start the dial cycle and activate the outputs for 0 to 270 seconds, programmable with 30 sec. step (parameter no. 2). During the alarm cycle, output OT1 will remain permanent on and output OT2 will go on and off intermitent. After the alarm cycle is finished, both outputs will go in off status. Outputs are pull-down type with a 500 mA max load capability. This means that the output voltage level in “on” status is near 0 V (GND) and in “off” status, near VCC (12V). The execution device (relay, low consume siren, etc.) must be connected between outputs contacts (OT1, OT2) and +12V.The calling order of the telephone numbers will be the same like in the SIM phone book. If there is no answer in 20 seconds, the GSM Controller ends the current call and skip to the next telephone number from the calling list. If a called party answers in less than 20 seconds, the GSM Controller will play the identification message no.4, and afterwards three times the correspondent message of the triggered input zone. The dial cycle will be repeated three times maximum, only for unanswered numbers. If an input remains in active status continuously, there will be only one complete alarm cycle generated by that input. A new alarm at this input will be generated only if input will go first in “normal status”. This feature avoids continuous alarm and calling that could be generated by a damaged sensor or by an opened door. Control of the dial cycle and outputs in alarm:. If the master no. 1 wants to stop the dial cycle to the other numbers from the list and the outputs alarm signaling while answering to an alarm call from the GSM Controller, he must continue to listen even after the last play of message ends; the device will enter automatically in “listen in” mode allowing the current master to listen sounds from secured area. The maximum listen in time for an alarm call is 4 minutes after which the dialer hang up automatically. If the master no. 1 wants the GSM CELLULAR CONTROLLER continue the dial cycle to the other numbers, he must hang up the phone before the end of the audio messages sequence (for example , after zone message is played second time).Functional check: The LED will flash in different ways depending of the GSM Controller status. Disarmed: Slow =0,5 sec. ON-4 sec. OFF.Armed: Medium 0,5 sec. ON-0, 5 sec. OFF. Calling: Fast=0,25 sec. ON-0, 25 sec. OFF.Optional, an external LED could be connected between “LED” connector and GND. This LED will flash in the same way as the status led from the PCB. The external LED don’t need series resistor.

7. Function of controller in “optional module” mode (programmable parameter no. 4=0)

The main difference in “optional module” mode compared with “stand alone” mode is the control and usage of output signals. In "optional module" both outputs are controlled with remote calls only. Output OT1 is pulse type and gives a programmable 0.25 to 2.5 sec. width pulse at every master call received. Output OT2 is flip-flop type and reverse it's status at every master call received. A call back confirmation to the master is made every time when output OT2 status becomes “on” (low level voltage) not when GSM Dialler goes in “arm” mode as in the “stand alone” selection. In “Optional Module” mode the GSM Controller has two main functions that could work simultaneous but totally independent: 1. Function related to outputs - a remote phone call from master numbers could change the status of

outputs. This function could be used for remote control applications as the shut down of a stolen vehicle, switching on/of a heating system or a AC unit, etc.

2. Function related to inputs - The GSM Controller could be connected with an existing car / home alarm system, like a voice pager. In this function the controller is just able to use the cellular phone connected to send out alarm calls and/or SMS. The outputs cannot be controlled from the device as siren and lamps, but only with master’s remote calls as pulse and flip-flop as described before. The arm / disarm in this case could be done connecting the arm input of the unit with the starter disable output of a car alarm, with the arm status indicator LED of a home alarm, with a hidden key switch, etc. Also the remote arm control is possible when parameter #5 is set to 1 value (arming by master call).

Features from points 1,2 will be totally independent only if parameter no. 5 (“arm by master” ) is disabled =0. Is strongly recommended to keep this parameter to 0 value when “optional module” mode is selected. Otherwise, the unit can be also remote armed / disarmed with the master calls if the parameter no. 5 =1, but the call-back confirmation will be performed regardless to output 2 status not when device goes in arm status and this could generate confusions for the user(s).

8. Guarantee Conditions

12 months in correct utilisation/installation conditions. Only authorised companies or persons must do installation.

Please make sure that the device is used with approved power supply 12 V DC. Refer to local law in order to ensure a legal use.
