As companies are beginning to understand thatemployees are increasingly striving to engage incharitable work or social good in the workplace,
a large number of international brands,organizations and global entities have madeefforts to meet their employees’ needs.
It is no surprise thatcompanies across theboard are changing theirbenefits strategy in orderto offer their employeeswith incentives to getinvolved in their localcommunities, while alsoboosting the positivereputation for thecompanies they haveaffiliations with.
Fortune’s list includes a spectrum ofcompanies including, but not limitedto, Google, Wegman’s Food Marketsand Quicken Loans within the top tencompanies that offer their employeesthe most ideal benefits, etc. Inaddition, Fortune also underlines theimportance of volunteer based PTOdays as it has shown to reduceemployee turnover due to this newlydesigned channel in the companyculture. The below list points out keyglobal companies that offer theiremployees volunteer, PTO daysthroughout the year.
NuStar EnergyThe San Antonio based company offers its
employees around sixty hours a year of paid timeto volunteer as a means for the brand to becomemore interconnected with the charitable causes in
their surrounding areas. Haven of Hope, acharitable golf tournament that happens every yearallows NuStar Energy employees to lead every stepin planning the philanthropic event from start to
finish.
Planning tasks such as decorating, gettingsponsorships and essentially organizing the
charitable golf tournament in every form. The eventhas continued to exhibit great success, with the
charitable golf tournament raising over twenty sevenmillion dollars to help homeless populations in the
area within the last eight years.
SalesforceSalesforce has strived for many years to not only make its mark asan original, fundamental company to carve out volunteer, PTO days
for its employees, but this brand has additionally sought out acreative response if seven days are not used. For the employeesthat happen to not take those seven PTO days each year, the
company continues to engage in charitable work by offering theindividual a thousand dollar grant to give away to a charitable
cause of their choice.
To support the Salesforce VP in his fight against Leukemia,employees have participated in what is called a “Light the NightWalk,” which aims to raise financial resources for Leukemia
patients.
Novo NordiskThe most philanthropiccompany that without adoubt tops the list, is theDanish pharmaceuticalcompany called NovoNordisk, which provides itsemployees with nearlythree days more than theaverage philanthropicgeared company.
This company offers nearly ten days ofpaid time off to volunteer to its
employees, which consists of aroundeighty hours. Framing itself as a
community-based, charitable companywith a strong mission to aid communitiesall over the world, Novo Nordisk offersemployees a myriad of programs andresources to incentivize giving back.
