Located on the north bank, overlooking the Thames proudly stands The Mermaid. Dating back to 1959, formerly a theatre, originally the brain child of Lord Bernard Miles the building is steeped in history. At the heart of The Mermaid and key to many events remains the Auditorium. One glimpse and it takes your breath away, The Mermaid is one of London’s best kept secrets. 2012 saw our biggest and most exciting renovations to date, giving The Mermaid even more flexibility. Designed with our clients in mind, Newgate Suite was created. A new exhibition and event floor was built. This light, bright and airy space has a new internal staircase which allows this area to work in conjunction with the Auditorium or as a standalone floor. With state of the art audio visual, lighting and moveable walls, this space has become very desirable to clients. Our new impressive Foyer is bright and contemporary, the floor to ceiling glass front provides clients a space to brand and make their own. The recently installed Living Wall is an added bonus for our clients! Several of London’s iconic landmarks on the banks of the Thames are framed by the impressive windows in The Upper and Lower River Rooms. These rooms are capable of holding from 50 to 400 for dinners, receptions and parties. The Mermaid's dedicated Sales and Events team will work with you to ensure everything runs perfectly.

Create Food Ltd are the sole caterers at The Mermaid and set out to design a food offering that would inspire all who visit the Centre.Food is an integral part of the working day and a very important aspect of a reception and dinner. Create understands this and works with their team of chefs and managers who are committed to producing superb food and service. Our in-house Chefs and product development team design menus suitable for all catering needs, from refined meeting refreshments, canapé receptions and buffets, to sophisticated three course seated dinners; our menus are flexible and can be tailored to fit your bespoke event.
Create task their product development team to develop menus with priority given to sourcing from local, artisan and organic food and drink suppliers, sustainability and presentation.

Reception FoyerThe Reception Foyer is a versatile space that can be used for registration, sponsorship area, branding and exhibition stands. In addition, the area can be used for a post event bar or an overflow for catering.
The Foyer has disabled access to all areas of The Mermaid along with cloakroom.

Mezzanine
The Mezzanine area is an ideal area for pre/post dinner drinks receptions or a catering area for the Auditorium. Display stands and corporate branding can also be put in this space.

The heart of The Mermaid is the Auditorium, with raked seating, excellent sight-lines, full lighting, sound, and audio visual capabilities. Our Auditorium offers clients the chance to have a stage reveal. By utilizing the reveal package, the main curtains draw back and the screen rises to ‘reveal’ an incredible reception area that delegates never knew existed.

Newgate SuiteThis new conference floor, includes three breakout areas; Ludgate, Bishopsgate and Aldgate. The space includes an exhibition area and flexible meeting rooms for up to 330 delegates. All new rooms are fitted with state of the art equipment, lighting and air conditioning.
Located on the first floor of The Mermaid, the new facility can be accessed via stairs, lifts and the undercover walkway directly from Blackfriars tube station. The new space will enable The Mermaid to offer clients the option of having a conference for up to 600 in the Auditorium with exhibition and catering space on the floor above.

Aldgate, Bishopsgate & Ludgate Suite
These three rooms form part of the Newgate Suite. They benefit from natural daylight, air conditioning and can be used independently or opened to increase the capacity of the Newgate Suite.

Queenhithe Suite
The Queenhithe is a contemporary room with a high ceiling, parquet floor and an edgy industrial feel. has natural light and can be set out in theatre or cabaret style, or used as an additional space for functions.
