Surety Bonds
• Also known as bail bonds

• This property often has to be twice the value of the imposedbail.
• Similarly to the cash bond, when the person appears forcourt their property is returned to them, however, shouldthey choose not to appear they forfeit their property and itis turned over to the court.

• Immigration bonds are extremely complicated and usuallyinvolve a great deal of risk on the part of the bondsman, andare generally more expensive and difficult to obtain.

• When a defendant is being charged with any type of federaloffense, including interstate crimes and offenses that occuron federal property, co-signers must obtain federal bailbonds in order to obtain their release.
