Ideally each person will be seated in such a way, they have full view of the screen(s). This requires the table to be at least as wide as the screen(s).

It is also important to remove all obstructions from between near panel members, the screen and the video camera, this will provide the far audience a clear view of the near panel members and easily identify individuals when they are speaking.

Which is best?

Potentially, the ideal seating arrangement will vary depending on the requirements of the meeting, so consideration as to what type of meetings the room is likely to most often facilitate may be prudent before designing it to be inflexible.

Panel layout


While the U is more often ideal, certain situations such as teaching/lecturing where communication is typically more 1 way from presenter to listeners, may make a panel arrangement a better option for large audience.

Consideration for the type of microphone will depend on the manner of communication to be determined. Boundary microphones for small groups or individual tie-clip microphones for individuals etc.
