Werewolves

Legend has it that werewolves spend most their time in human form but then, on the full moon, transform into a giant man-eating wolf with no human conscience. The werewolf usually turns back into a human at sunrise, with no recollection of their wolfish activities.

Social fears that the monster causes:• A fear of being cursed with Lycanthropy• The fear going out on a full moon and getting infected by a

bite from a werewolf • The fear of not being able to control the change and wanting

to kill • Afraid of them as they are seen as being from the spiritual

and supernatural world that goes against religious grounds

Witches

A witch is seen/portrayed in two different ways, a wiccan white witch that doesn’t harm and does good, where in comparison a dark black witch who has magical powers that they use for evil. In addition a black witch is practicing black witchcraft will do harm to individuals.

Social fears the monsters are creating: • Religious beliefs and fears about the devil

giving them magical powers • Being scared because the society could accuse

you of a witch and you’d be hung for the accusation

• Fears of moral conflict and discrimination against certain individuals, as they would be classed as a witch and killed

Zombie

Zombies are usually defined as people who were once human, but have been have come back to life undead. Usually there are sufferers have that have died, been attacked or been infected by other zombies , which they turn into one wanting the taste human flesh and blood.

Social fears the monster is creating: • Moral breakdown of society with as a conscience of knowing

right from wrong• A mass decrease in the size of the population • Many intelligent people dying who could potentially have

the knowledge to change the society/world• Fears of losing family and friends, or even losing yourself

Demon

A demon is classed as a supernatural creature of the devil. They are commonly know for being related to religion, occultism, literature, fiction, mythology and folklore. In addition a demon is considered an unclean spirit, a fallen angel, or an unknown spirit which may cause demonic possession to humans.

Social fears the monster is creating:• A corrupt society that lives in fear of the afterlife • Its ruining and going against religious beliefs • Sin, guilt, and bad deeds may panic individuals making them

fear a demonic presence

Vampires

vampires are believed to be humans who in life were bitten by another vampire and then return after death to feed on the blood of other humans. Vampires are portrayed as having the gift of immortality which means they will never die naturally (e.g. of old age) however they can be killed by being exposure to sunlight, garlic, holy water or direct penetration through the heart with a wooden stake.

Social fears the monster is creating: • Society being scared to sleep as they are creatures of the

night• They fear being haunted down like prey as humans are a

food source for them • Society fear that they will be out numbered but the

monsters further meaning that the human race will decrease due to deaths and turnings of humans into vampires
