Program Details:

• Kids program takes place on New Years Eve in Northern Oregon. It will be from 6 PM to 9 PM. It involves 12 activities that include fun crafts, festive food, and games that help count down to the New Year. Every 15 minutes a balloon will be popped releasing confetti and the next activity until the final activity of watching the ball drop in New York.

• Parents are welcome to join in the fun and enjoy the activities and release their inner child to ring in 2016.

the ability for a small stage to be set up.• Location: Northern Oregon• Participant Age Group: Ages 3-6 and

parents are welcome• Staff Needed: Average of 4 staff needed• Fees: $5 per child and $20 per family (up

to 4 kids)• Minimum 20 children, Maximum 25

children• No prizes will be needed, all kids will keep

Balloon CountdownSupplies: • Colored balloons (not blown up) • Confetti (small enough to fit into a

balloon, not star shaped)• Markers• Note with activity (this is optional)Instructions: 1. Add desired amount of confetti

to deflated balloon (and activity note)

2. Inflate balloon and tie3. Carefully write on balloon 4. Have children pop balloons or

use as a decoration

2016 Breadsticks

Supplies: • Pillsbury Pizza

Dough • Baking pans• Knives • Marinara sauce• Plates and napkins

Instructions: 1. Open the pizza dough and roll out

flat into a rectangle shape2. Use knife or pizza cutter to cut into

4 rows by 2 rows leaving you with 8 squares

3. Then cut each of the 8 squares into 4 strips

4. Twist and turn the slices to form 2016 (staff can do this or let children help, make sure to wash hands)

5. Set those on baking sheets (can add butter or garlic for more flavor)

6. Read baking instructions on pizza dough can and bake appropriately

7. Heat marinara sauce and pour into single serve soufflé cups

8. Serve the breadsticks and marinara sauce to each child

Sparkling Science

Supplies:• Plastic

Cups/Champagne Flutes• Baking Soda• White Vinegar• Glitter (Multicolor)• Disposable Tray or Pan• Food Coloring

Instructions:1. Place 2 to 3 plastic

cups/champagne flutes on the disposable tray

2. Fill each glass with baking soda (roughly half the glass) and some glitter

3. In the white vinegar bottle mix in a couple drops of food coloring (whichever color the child would like)

4. When the children are ready pour some of the colored white vinegar into the glass and watch the baking soda fizz up over the glass.

5. Since everything is non-toxic the kids can feel free to play in the fizz and foam

Glitter Playdough

Supplies:• 2 Cups of Flour• 1 Cup of Salt• 2 Cup Water• 2 Tablespoons of

Vegetable Oil• 4 Teaspoon of Cream of

Tartar• ½-1 Cup of Glitter

(multicolored)

 Instructions:1. Mix all food ingredients in the

pot (children can help if playdough not already made). It will resemble thick pancake batter.

2. Add glitter to mixture3. Cook on stove at medium

heat until mixture forms into a ball (stir constantly)

4. Place ball on counter to cool5. Knead the dough to smooth

out any bumps6. Divide the dough into mini

containers so kids can have own dough to play with and take home.

Pin Midnight on the ClockSupplies:• (1) Giant piece of white

foam or (2) smaller pieces

• Clear packaging tape• Double sided tape• Black foam • Black and red markers• Blindfold• Scissors• Large round pan to trace

Instructions:1. Use packaging tape to tape the

(2) pieces of foam together to make a larger square shape

2. Use the large rounded pan to trace a circle

3. Use the black marker and write all of the numbers on the clock

4. Use the red marker to draw and color a small circle in the middle

5. Cut out clock hands with the black foam (one per child)

6. Blindfold the child and apply the double sided tape to the cut out clock hands

7. Spin the child and send them toward the clock to “pin” their clock hands on

8. The closest child to get them placed correctly to midnight wins

Chocolate Cone Noise Makers

Supplies:• Baking chocolate chips for melting

• Sugar cones (one per child)• Sprinkles• Tube icing• Plates• Warmer for the chocolate

Instructions:1. Melt chocolate down2. Dip the sugar cone in pointy side

down and cover cone with chocolate3. Apply sprinkles immediately while

chocolate is still wet4. Sit aside and allow 30 minutes to

dry5. After cones are completely dry, use

the tube icing and let children write names or year on the cone

6. Let the icing dry7. Give them to children as they watch

the ball drop and have them bite the pointy end off and eat it

8. As a celebration when the ball drops they can blow through the hole and make noise with the cones 

9. Then the children can eat and enjoy their noise makers

Treat Bag Musical Chairs

Supplies:• Brown paper bags (lunch

bag size)

• Assorted candy, toys, bead necklaces

• Hershey Kisses (assure everyone to get a New Year’s Kiss and give Kisses away)

• Stickers, crayons, or markers

• Tape

Instructions:1. Have one bag for each child2. Pre-decorate bags or have

children decorate bags3. Fill bags

4. Tape shut5. Play music and pass the bags

around and when music stops each child will keep that bag (or read a story that has instructions to pass left or pass right)

6. Each child keeps their bag of goodies-make sure to announce about saving the Hershey Kisses for when the ball drops at midnight

Festive Jell-O SquaresSupplies: • 2 Packets of

Gelatine (unflavored)

• 2 Tablespoons of Sugar

• 2 Cups of Sparkling White Grape Juice/Clear Soda

• Colorful Pop Rocks

• Baking Pan• Cooking Spray

Instructions:1. Mix gelatin, sugar, and the

juice/soda in a medium microwave safe bowl and let sit for 3 minutes.

2. Microwave on high for 3 minutes until everything is dissolved.

3. Pour mixture into a medium to large cake pan that is sprayed with oil or cooking spray

4. Refrigerate until they are completely set

5. Cut the Jell-O into squares or fun shapes

6. Allow kids to choose which flavor and color pop rocks they decorate the treat with.

Marshmallow Shooting Tag

Supplies:• Paper Party Cups• Balloons• Tape• Scissors• Mini Marshmallows

 Instructions to Make:1. Take a party cup and cut the

bottom out of the cup making it resemble a tube

2. Make a knot closing the deflated balloon

3. Cut the balloon about 2.5 inches from the knot

4. Stretch the balloon over the hole at the bottom of the cup so that the knot is in the middle. The fit should be tight enough that it should stay on it’s own.

5. For extra support place a piece of tape around the edge of the balloon securing it to the cup.

6. Then place the marshmallow in the cup. Pull the knot of the balloon back and then release causing the marshmallow to shoot into the air.

Marshmallow Shooting Tag GameInstructions to Play:1. Each child gets their own

marshmallow shooter and a snack sized Ziploc bag of 25 mini marshmallows.

2. The kids are divided up into two teams and the goal is to shoot marshmallows at the opposite team.

3. If a child is hit by the opposite team they must freeze until a member of their own team tags them (with their hand) to unfreeze them.

4. This continues until all marshmallows have been shot and the team with the least people frozen wins.

5. Everyone is rewarded with an extra bag of marshmallows to eat

DIY Microphones

Supplies:• Empty Paper Towel Roll Tube• Scissors• Black Paint/Paintbrushes• Any kind of decorations (stickers,

glitter, construction paper, etc.)• Aluminum Foil• Hot Glue (Staff or parents help

required)

Instructions:1. Trim paper towel tube roll to fit

the child’s hand2. Cut a vertical slit at the bottom of

the tube. Overlap the cut portions of the tube, creating a slight cone shape and secure with hot glue (parent’s or staff help required)

3. Paint the tube black or whatever color the child desires

4. While the paint is drying have the child form the top of the microphone by taking a large piece of aluminum foil and scrunch it into the shape of a large ball.

5. Place the foil ball on top of the tube and attach with the use of hot glue (once again parents or staff help required)

6. Once dry, the child can decorate the tube any way that they would like.

Family & Friends KaraokeSupplies:• Stage area set up in the room• Music Player (CD player or iPod

speaker)• CDs or MP3 player• Homemade MicrophonesInstructions:1. Once the activity is announced

everyone has to get into teams of 3 to 5

2. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children

3. Come up with a song and you are given 5 minutes to practice and have fun preparing to get on stage

4. Then each group will get on stage and have fun performing their song using the new microphones they just created

5. Prepare to listen to a lot of Let It Go!

2016 Glasses

Supplies:• Foam Glasses (activity kits)• Stickers and gems (best if

sticker kind• Elastic Cord• Number stickers

Instructions:1. Give each child a pair

of foam glasses2. Tie the elastic string

onto the glasses3. Let the child

decorate with stickers and gems

4. Stick the numbers onto the top of the glasses for the year (Ex. 2016)

5. Let the glasses dry for a couple minutes if glue or paint used

Let the Ball Drop Hot PotatoInstructions:1. 15 minutes before the ball drops have

all the kids sit in a circle on the floor in front of the television where the Times Square Ball Drop is being shown.

2. Play some music and they all have to pass the beanbag around in the circle

3. Whenever the music stops the person holding the beanbag takes a slide back away from the circle (they are out of the game).

4. This continues until there are 2 or 3 kids left by the time the countdown for the ball dropping is being announced.

5. The person holding the beanbag when the countdown is over and it is officially the New Year gets to pop the Happy New Years Balloon.

6. To celebrate the New Year everyone gets to wear their 2016 glasses, eat their edible noisemakers, and eat their Hershey kisses from the treat bags.

Backup ActivitiesBalloon Volleyball

Supplies:• Fly Swatters• BalloonsInstructions:1. About 12 balloons get blown

up with air and are going to be thrown in the air

2. The kids are going to get divided up into two groups

3. Each group is going to try and work together to keep all 12 balloons in the air by only using fly swatters

4. Once a balloon falls on the ground then the next group goes

5. This continuous to go back and forth until the time frame is up or the kids get exhausted with the activity

Glow in the Dark Ring TossSupplies:• 5 empty 2 liter soda bottles• Glow in the Dark Paint• Glow Necklaces• Tape (to designate where they

stand)Instructions:1. Paint all 2 liter bottles with glow in

the dark paint and let them dry2. Set bottles standing up fairly close

together and mark with tape about a yard from the bottles

3. Connect all the glow necklaces to create rings

4. Turn off all but one light in the room. Give each child 10 necklaces and their goal is to throw the necklace and have it land around a bottle.
