MEAN

• The most popular and widely used measure of representing the entire data by one value is called as Arithmetic Mean.

• Mean = ∑FX/∑F• • Results: • • During the analysis of above 2 company mean of Apple and

Samsung found to be respectively. This shows the mean of – The mean of Apple for display is more than Samsung 4.193

and 3.8387 respectively.– The mean of Apple for sound is more than Samsung 4.032

and 3.275 respectively.

MODE• Mode is defined as the value which occurs maximum number of time i.e. which has

maximum frequency .It is calculated as: • Mode = L+ [{Δ1/(Δ1+Δ2)}×i] Where, L=Lower limit of the class interval of mode class Δ1=Diff b/w frequency of modal class and frequency of premodal class Δ2=Diff b/w frequency of modal class and frequency of postmodal class i= Class Interval • Results: • During the analysis of above 2 company , mode of Apple and Samsung shows • In matter of camera, mode of Samsung is more than Apple 5 and 4 respectively.• In matter of features, mode of Apple is more than Samsung 5 and 3 respectively.

MEDIAN • It is a measure of central tendency which appears in the middle of order sequence of values i.e. half

of the observation in the set of the data are lower and half are greater than it .Hence median is called as ‘Positional Average’ .It is calculated as

• • N/2 - Locate the median Class = Median Position• • Median = L+ [{(N/2 – P.C.F)/F}×i]• Where, L=Lower limit of the class interval of median class P.C.F=Preceding Cumulative Frequency F=Frequency of median class i =class interval

• Results: • During the analysis of above 2 company median of Apple and Samsung shows.• In matter of applications of both phones Samsung is more than Apple 3 and 4 respectively.• In matter of service of both phones Apple is more than Samsung 4 and 3 respectively.

STANDARD DEVIATION• It is a measure of how much spread or variability is present in the sample.

If all the number in the sample are very close to each other in such cases SD is zero (0) and if the numbers are well dispersed than SD tends to be large. It is calculated as:

• Standard Deviation = • Results: • During the analysis of 2 company in Standard Deviation. This shows • In matter of brand value Samsung is more than Apple 0.77 and 0.74

respectively.• In matter of value for money, Samsung is more than Apple 0.86 and 0.67.

SKEWNESS

VARIABLE SAMSUNG I-PHONESOUND 0.171992 -0.4692DISPLAY 0.234164 -0.33281

•When the mean is higher than the median, there will be a relatively long upper tail, which is "positive skew".

•Often in the social sciences, the mean may be lower that the median in which case the distribution has "negative skew"

CORRELATON r = Ʃxy ÷ Ʃxˆ2 × Ʃyˆ2

Brand value Value for moneySamsung and i- phone

-0.037 0.58

•Correlation is Positive when the values increase together, •Correlation is Negative when one value decreases as the other increases.

•There is low negative correlation between samsung and I-Phone’s brandvalue.•There is high positive correlation between samsung and I-Phone’svalue for money

From the following survey in respect of brand value of samsung and i phone users, test @ 5%significance level, if there is any significant difference in the brandvalue of 2 mobile phones

MOBILE MEAN S.D OF BRANDVALUE

SIZE OF SAMPLE

SAMSUNG 3.13 0.72 60

I-PHONE 3.92 0.75 60

AS THE SAMPLE IS LARGE WE USE A Z TEST FOR DIFFERENCE IN THE MEANS WITH THE FOLLOWING –

AT 5%LEVEL OF SIGNIFICANCE FOR A 2-TAILED TEST R: Z > 1.96. OUR OBSERVED VALUE -5 >-1.96 AND HENCE WE REJECT OUR NULL HYPOTHESIS.AS IT IS IN THE REJECTION REGION.

THEREFORE THERE EXISTS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE BRAND VALUE OF I-PHONE AND SAMSUNG

Page 20: comparison between samsung and i phone using statistical measures

Chi-square test

Page 21: comparison between samsung and i phone using statistical measures

A sample of 30 is taken randomly can we say that variance of value for money of iphone from which the above sample was drawn is

equal to 1.

• Mean of random 30 samples-4.17• Variance of the above samples-0.54

• AT 5%LEVEL OF significance and at 29 dof our table value for chi square comes to42.557. our observed value for chi-square is 15.8804 which lies in the region .

• Hence we accept our null hypothesis and conclude that variance of population from which the above sample is drawn is equal to 1 .

CONCLUSION

• Brandvalue, camera, features, sound, display, value for money are the variables where I-PHONE has won the majority.

• Battery back up, services, user friendliness, applications are the variables where samsung has won the majority.
