The study of art presents itself with no restrictions, which is why this path has become my goal. The arts have helped me change my approach to learning and I have come to realize the importance of both critical and creative thinking in everything I do. Creativity is something often lost in education, which is why I aim to dedicate myself to salvaging it in my future career. I am applying for a Foundation Year to expand my knowledge within the countless aspects of arts and improve my proficiency. I have learned to build on general insights and inspirations, which are usually obtained by observing another piece of work or shaped by my personal experiences and dreams. Art coins itself from different perspectives. Lines, shapes, values, contrast and variety, patterns, rhythm, movement, balance, unity and proportion have to be aesthetically pleasing. Usually when fixing things that seem incorrect I come up with another creative insight that I can include and this leads me further into the never ending process. Unity is one of the most important aspects of well designed art. It is the harmony and the belonging together of all the visual elements in a composition so that each contributes to the wholeness in a piece of Art. I have applied different techniques in my artwork such as printmaking, etching, oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, mixed media and photography. When working on a new idea or project I devote all my positive energy until I am satisfied with the final outcome. My motivations originate from my interests in painting, photography, design as well as my perceptions of media. More recently I have gotten insights for my paintings from literature. I usually record my dreams and analyze them to then create a piece which conveys their meaning and emotional background. This is why I set up the PowerPoint showing my finished piece following a few images of the preparatory creative sketchbook work.
