We found that website fashion website ‘Ducie’ ( http://ducie.co.uk/ ) was modelled for by our case study model Lauren Wallace. We used this as relevant background footage as we introduced her interview and again for the mise-en-scene on the computer. We could have used more from this website, such as more examples of the stereotypical ‘fashion’ she had to model. However, her interview was quite short, so a cutaway may have looked out of place and could have taken away from the genuine feel of the interview, because of being a model herself. Keeping her on screen for all of the interview allowed our audience to see her emotion, especially being a medium close up shot. For our Yves Saint Laurent interview, we used a cutaway to make up being applied in a makeover setting at the counter. This was important for emphasising the time and effort put into appearance and how women can see beauty regimes as a hobby and an indulgence. We edited our footage so that it went back to the interview when the make up consultant says ‘it’s unnecessary worry’. We thought it was important to see her say this to counteract the cutaway and contrast the two ideas. For our Fitness First interview, we used a cutaway to the MTV documentary ‘Too Much Too Young – Teen Body Obsession’( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =ecOg5VwW5Nc ). The footage of the gym linked to Fitness First and reinforced what was being said in the interview.

We found that website fashion website ‘Ducie’ (http://ducie.co.uk/) was modelled for by our case study model Lauren Wallace.

For our Fitness First interview, we used a cutaway to the MTV documentary ‘Too Much Too Young – Teen Body Obsession’(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecOg5VwW5Nc). The footage of the gym linked to Fitness First and reinforced what was being said in the interview.

For our vox pops, we used a consistent location at The Sixth Form College, Solihull. The mise-en-scene of work in the background reflected this setting and gave our footage relevance and charisma.

Our vox pops were mainly medium shots to give a more informal look, keeping the interviews less intense by being further away. This also portrayed our interviewees as relatable characters for our target audience, by showing their clothes and general appearance which would be similar to theirs, being college students.

We had to re-film some of our vox pops due to sound issues, with background noise being a downfall to filming at college. We would have also liked to get some different opinions from the general public, maybe around Solihull town centre.

We used a variety of individual shots and group shots

We used low angle shots for our still images of around ten shop names in Touchwood, Solihull. We then edited them to flash up on screen for approximately a second, one after the other. This created a fast paced look to make our documentary look professional, after using quite long clips of our interviews. It also connotes the speed at which trends change and mirrors women trying to keep up-to-date with their appearance.

The low angle reflects the superiority these shops have and how our appearance can control day-to-day routine.

We mainly used straight cuts throughout our documentary to add professionalism and keep it moving quickly. Other transitions such as dissolves would have been inappropriate for our topic because of it’s serious nature, however we did use fades as a punctuation mark, ending sections of the documentary and moving onto something new.

For our establishing shot of Fitness First gym, we found that we didn’t have enough time to introduce the location and our interviewee using our voiceover. We decided to slow down the footage, which meant the pan lastest longer and our voiceover could fit properly.

In order to follow typical conventions for our radio trailer, we made sure we picked upbeat, quirky music. We picked the sound ‘cybertoy’ as it seemed appropriate for our topic, sounding quite sophisticated and up-to-date.
