movie the mise-en-scene is crucial to create the atmosphere (clothes etc) and suspense that is needed to make viewers fixated on the what could happen later on, leaving us with a cliff hanger.

Within this clip from 10 Things i hate about you, automatically we notice the controversial behaviour in the character Kat.

It makes the audience wonder where she got her aggression and why? Will she at any point become vulnerable?

narration; sound effects. This creates realism and makes you feel the emotion the director wants you to feel (to suit the genre of film) for instance, Tim Burton (Edward Scissor Hands) the use of non-diegetic echoes and voices gives us a mysterious and puzzling feeling.
