Who would be the audience for your media product?
Media Evaluation
Question 4
Target Audience
• The target audience for my magazine is predominantly women (although I have made the magazine as unisex as possible), between the ages of around 16-30 years old.
• By looking closely at magazines such as Q, I found that they tend to do unisex magazines, however some issues are more feminine (female friendly) then others.
Research and Planning
• During the research and planning stages of my magazine I made a questionnaire and handed it to people in my target audience age range and take into account their preferences, and presented it on my blog.
• I used their preferences and some opinions to, for example making the magazine £2.49, as the preferred price was between £2-£3.
Questionnaire
• When constructing my questionnaire and focus group questions I ensured that the questions I asked were relevant to my magazine so I got an accurate result, and so I could then go on to use those findings and ensure they were reliable to enable me to gain a good understanding of what/who the best target audience would be for my magazine.
Results
Most of the people who completed my questionnaire and took interest in it were females
From the people who took part in my questionnaire, the age range was 16-20 years old.
Everyone who took part wanted and refereed interviews in magazines rather then just articles.
Initial Audience
• The audience I originally intended to reach with my magazine was both males and females, between the ages of 16 to 30.
• Throughout the production of my magazine however, it became slightly more female orientated, not completley, but it was more female friendly then male.
• I believe this happened due to me myself being a young female who likes indie-pop music and magazines and the fact that the artist I featured was a 21 year old female artist.
• Due to my interest and firm knowledge in this area of genre, I feel that my slightly bias opinions and preferences have swayed the choices in the production of my magazine, more one way then the other.
