"In this world nothing can be

taxes"

Benjamin Franklin

3 SIMPLE OBSERVATIONS ABOUT MONEY &TAXES

Diminished ReturnsAlthough taxes are dispersed among everyone, the people who pay more

than others don't necessarily get the most in return.

Income As Personal EffortIn capitalism, we're taught to see income as a measure ofpersonal effort.

ObligationClassically, people are obligated to pay taxes in proportion

to their income

How it has previously been dispersed in the UK

To fix taxation's image, give people Freedom.

“Money is coined liberty.”

- Dostoevsky

----->Taxes are obligatory and reduce people's Coined Liberty.

Insight: Taxation's fundamental problem is that it’s perceived as

reducing a part of people's freedom.

The GameUsing the existing, proven

Gamification infrastructure of Fantasy

Football, Tax Free Football invokes the deeply positive

association that sport fans feel towards their team and

directly relates this sense of ownership to their community

- because community ownership is the essence of

taxation.

A Midfielder’s purpose is Transporting the football. He’s not a defender, however.

A Goalkeeper is defending the team’s home. He stays in a small area. So, while lacking in transportation abilities, he is very strong in the defensive and housing capacities.

Sweepers keep the home goal clean from outsiders - like public sanitation.

The Hole is the brains on the pitch, facilitating smart plays. He educates.

In #TFF, the 11 positions on a football pitch analogously correspond to how taxes are used:

The System

Users have a ‘budget’ of skill points to allocate between positions

After deciding which areas are most important to winning, users pit their teams against each other online

Football & public policy have unexpected ups and downs. Before every match, a user will be randomly given a points boost and a deduction across different areas - like injuries or good player performances. As the Coach - or government - they can make (limited) last minute adjustments.

• the necessary nature of taxation• the limiting factors in government's budget• and the interconnectedness of every area

The Genius of Tax Free Football#TFF engages tax payers in a dialogue by inviting users to better understand:

ENGAGEMENT

Incentivize & increase awareness with prizes donated by large corporations.

Catching the Big Fish

Soft Benefit: the corporation increases brand engagement and improves its public image. Moreover, depending on national laws, the donated prizes might actually be tax deductible.

orporations want to do more business. Consumer relationships are essential. By providing prizes,

corporations reap two benefits:

Hard benefit: Participants are shown a graphic of how many miles of road, how many schools, how many teachers’ yearly salaries, etc. a corporation's annual taxes paid for. This visual makes an otherwise abstruse number personally meaningful.

Democracy, after all, is about individual engagement for the whole team ...

FF focuses on the essential, important detail of how taxes should be allocated: Democratically.T#

Putting Democracy in play: YouSpend US House Majority Leader Eric Cantor started a program called YouCut.

Every user who signs up picks one of 3 programs they’d like to see more money allocated towards. For answering the question, they are given a voucher for help with their taxes.

Citizens vote on one of 3 programs they’d like to cut spending from over the next 10 years.

Well, let’s ask #TFF users how they’d like their money used better:YouSpend

#TFF has 2 major achievements: it gets everyone in play - the Majority & the Big Fish - and it gets everyone playing together.

Civilization depends on taxation - just as there can’t be life without death. But everyone should have a say in how they spend their life - their freedom.

With YouSpend, #TFF becomes not only engaging, but actionable.
