Introduction

Bangladesh is a land of natural beauties and its majestic appeals. It is blessed with numerous

natural, historical resources, places and environment. Moreover, our country is highly enrich with

tour and adventure loving people. Our motive is to create a deep connection between these tour

loving people and their preferred places of visit within our country. Explore Bangladesh aims to

provide suitable tour packages (both automated and customized) to its potential clients in a very

ease of way. We are ensuring the efficient time table manners and pleasant tourism activities in

very economical prices. In Explore Bangladesh, we are covering heritage and historical places of

Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Khulna and Sylhet. This particular web page is aiming to function as

travel guide, customized package system where clients can design their own package only be some

easy clicks, and better solid transportation systems according to the preferred criteria’s of

customers. Explore Bangladesh would be the first traveling web based e-commerce system that

highlights and offer Package customization system within the domestic region of our country.

The Packages, we are offering:

Tour package.(both group and family)

Honeymoon package.

Winter trip package.

Customized holiday packages.

Weekend trip in Bandaraban, Sajek Valley etc.( short trip)

In the very beginning, Explore Bangladesh will highlight its action through online booking

system for it customer whom wants to travel and want to book their packages from home. Later

on we will describe the business model and its operations of explore Bangladesh in our term

paper. It will also emphasis about the revenue model where it justifies about the outcome. Then

the process and procedure of web design, development and also the suitable Meta with

improvised search engine optimization process are covered. We will also mention about the

plugin, widget and themes used to sharpen the explore Bangladesh. Moreover, we will discuss

about some curtain limitation of this business. Finally, we will share about the future of our

business and potentiality within the emerging market.

E-Business Overview

E-commerce is creating a new scope for all business sectors. It is becoming very much popular all

over the world, as people wants to get updated with the new era. Bangladesh is also a place where

the use of E-commerce is spreading like a virus and people are also adapting with it. Now a day,

it is essential for all business to focus more on E-commerce. So, there is a huge possibility that

Bangladesh will also go for all kind of E-business within a short period of time as it is making our

life easy.

Overview of Our Business

We are group of five members who worked for this project to develop an online tour package

business in Bangladesh .Our website name is “www.explorebd.com”. Before introducing this

business we try to find out the opportunities and viability of this business. At first, we found that

in our country most of the people find difficulties to plan and manage the tour. Again people face

challenges in managing bus ticket, hotel reservation, safety, before going to a tour. So, observing

those difficulties and problem of the people we try to come up with a solution of providing tour

packages in online. Those tour packages are designed in such a way so that the travelers do need

to think or worry about their tour. Because; we are proving transportation, accommodation, guide

and other attractive facilities in our tour packages.

As we are going to start a business named Explore Bangladesh, first ever online based travel

agency, we need to develop an effective business model and revenue models. In below we are

going to talk about business and revenue models which will help us to improve our e-commerce

business and get advantage in this internet based competitive world.

Business Model

A business model helps to gain competitive advantage and it helps a business to do all operational

works in a proper way. Without having a proper business model it will be almost impossible for

any organization to complete any business related task. For our online based travel agency we have

come up with a business model which will help us to complete our tasks in an effective way

(Chaffey, 2009). The things we follow in our business model are described in below-

Value Proposition: In our website we will offer tour packages at a reasonable price range

within Bangladesh. There will be different tour packages according to the consumer’s

choice, convenience and we will also offer cost reduction based on their demand. We will

also focus on customizing our offer based on the deal with the consumers. In customization

we will also focus on how to improve our website and increase our sales. Thus, we have to

focus on convenience and choice and cost reduction part to make it more successful.

Market or audience: We will follow business to consumer or B2C in our business. Here,

we will directly deal with our consumers without any intermediaries.

Competitive environment: In this business sector, we have to face both direct and

indirect competitors. Our direct competitors will be other travel agencies. Moreover,

indirect competitors will be different hotels and resorts as they also offer different tour

packages in their website.

Virtual Communities: By using social networks we will create B2C communities to let

people know about our tour packages so that it boosts our business.

Operational Model

To operate a business successfully, it is very important to create an effective operational model.

As we are staring our business in tourism sector, it is an essential part of our organization. We built

the operational model by dividing the whole organization into different segmentation so that each

department can do their own operation effectively. There will be six departments in our company

Web Maintenance Department: This department plays one of the most crucial roles of

an online business. As our business is online based, it is mandatory for us to have an

expert web maintenance department. The main job of this department is to maintain our

website at a daily basis. Moreover, they will update any information related to our

packages if any changes occur. They will also make a record of our customer’s database

and provide it to other department if needed.

Sales Department: There will be a sales department in our business. They will maintain

all works related to sales like order taking, order confirmation, checking available tour

package stocks etc.

Accounts Department: The main task of this department is to do all transactional

activity which happens after the sales. They will collect the money from our customers

using three different ways. Those are- Cash on delivery, bKash, Check payment

Customer Service Department: This department will handle all types of customer

related issues. For instance, contact with the customers via phone and email, solving

customer’s problems regarding order process and other issues. Moreover, they will take

complains from the customers and will provide them appropriate solutions of those

problems.

Agents: Though we are online based travel agency, we need to have some people who

will work to complete all the outdoor activities. In our business, we will have some

agents who will help the customers physically. They will pick them up from the airport or

bus station and bring them to the hotel and also take them in different places to visit as a

tourist guide.

Partners: In our business, partners are those whom will help us to facilitate our

business program in a proper way. Our main partners are different hotels from different

location, transportation providers. We make deal with our partners in such a way so that

both parties get benefitted.

Revenue Model

In this part, we will talk about how we can use revenue model for generating income. However,

we need to talk about the revenue model first. Revenue model is mainly those processes which

will describe different techniques for generation of income. Now they are described in below.

Direct Product Sales of Product or Services: We can sale our tour packages directly via

our website and thus we can generate income by this way.

Advertising: In our website other companies or organizations can give advertisement for

their promotion and from that we can earn money. It can also be considered as an income

source.

CPM Display Advertising on Site: CPM stands for cost per thousand. In this process we

will charge fees from the advertising companies according to the number of times their

advertisement are shown in our site (Chaffey, 2009).

CPC Advertising on Site: CPC stands for cost per click. We will not charge any fee for

the number of time their advertisements are displayed in our site. Here, we will generate

our income depending on the clicks customers make in the advertisement of different

advertising companies.

Commission Based Sales: One major source of earning revenue in our business is

commission based sales. We get this commission mainly from our partners depending on

the deals. Also, we get commission from the advertising company based on their sales.

Website Development

Content Management System and Plugin Integration

Basically, a Content Management System (CMS) is an open source software that makes building

and maintaining websites faster and easier. The way Content management systems works is it

actually stores the actual contents like pages, post and media files in a database and the system

later can automatically pull the content out and show it on the appropriate pages based on rules

users set up in advance. But a CMS does not do everything for website; designing, creating

contents, maintaining are the job of the owner of the website. Owner can do it all by himself or

herself or they can assign someone else to do those for them (Quinn & Gardner, 2010).

There are thousands of Content Management Software and among them, hundreds are providing

us the facility for free. A study done back in 2013 showed that WordPress was on the top of the

list in 2013 because it was used by 50.07% of all websites that used a CMS to develop and maintain

the website; also, there was Drupal that hold the second position by having 17.07% of the industry

and 3rd position was taken by Joomla by helping 6.44% websites of the industry. Along with these

CMS, there were vBullitem and ExpressionEngine was there in Top 5 CMS of 2013 (Quinn M. ,

2013). The list of the Top 10 CMS of 2013 is given in the appendix section of this paper.

Plugin Integration

In terms of computing, Plug-in is a module or a software that can be added to a system to give

extra features or functions (Appendix 3). The best part of using WordPress is using plugin to get

a lot of works done with just a few simple clicks and those plugins speed up our works and helps

us to do things a lot faster and gives us chances to change almost everything within the website.

To get those benefits of getting extra features or functions and get our works done with a few

clicks, we also used few plug-ins. Now, we’re going to show how we have added those plug-in in

our Content Management Software (CMS) in such a way so that any amateur can do it too by

simply following the process we’ve given here.

At first, we have login to our CMS using ‘/wp-admin’ extension after the name of the website and

the screen given below appears.

From this page, we have to log-in using own login ID and Password and ‘Dashboard’ page appears

after successfully logging-in to the back-end of the website. Here’s where we build our website.

From the left panel of the dashboard page, we have place the mouse pointer on the Plugin button

and a new menu appears. From the new menu, we have to click on ‘Add New’ to install plugins.

From the newly loaded page, we have to search for plugin that we need by writing the name of the

plugin in the search box and press ‘Enter’. If the desired plugin is found, we have click now on

‘Install Now’ right beside the plugin’s name.

The ‘Install Plugin’ button redirect us to a new page where it shows that the plugin in installed and

if we want to activate it or not. So, we have click on the ‘Activate Plugin’ button and we are finally

done with adding new plugin to our website.

This is how we have installed plugins we needed to build our website and got our works done

using those plugin.

Used Plugins

Now we are going discuss some of the plug-ins we have used to build our website and get a lot of

our works done with just a few simple clicks.

bKash for WooCommerce: For any kind of e-commerce website, payment methods are

important. In third world countries like Bangladesh, PayPal doesn’t support for payment

and so do some other like Payza. In Bangladesh, the most used payment method for any

kind of transection is bKash. This is why a plugin developer name Tareq Hasan developed

a plugin for WooCommerce that allow customers to pay using bKash. We have used this

plugin in the Checkout page where customers finally pay for the product and proceed to

checkout.

LiveSupporti: Customer service is always important no matter what type of business it is.

For online businesses, we have to give service though online, over phone or e-mail. All of

these is not enough for customers. This is why we need a plugin that will allow our CRMs

to give real-time service using chat-box. LiveSupporti gives us this facility to serve our

customers directly using Live Chat facility. All we need to use this is just an account in the

LiveSupporti website and from there we can decide what color, what type of box and stuffs

we want for our website. This plugin appears in every page of our website.

Page Builder by SiteOrigin: This plugin has used in different pages of our website. Page

Builder by SiteOrigin plugin adds a lot of features and functions to work with. Pages like

About Us, Places to Visit are edited using this plugin that helped us to beautifully decorate

our page without writing a single line of code.

Title Remover & Spacer: These two are two small plugins where Title Remover enables

us to remove from any particular page we want, and Spacer enables us to add space or gap

of certain amount of pixels in any page wherever we need it.

WP Meta SEO: Optimizing a website for search engines is the most important for getting

organic views and making our website available in the front page of the search results of

Google, Yahoo, Bing search is important. WP Meta SEO plugin enables us of writing meta

title and description for different pages, products of our website. While making a page, it

is down there to immediately add meta title and description. Or else, we can directly go to

WP Meta SEO > Content from the dashboard to write all of the meta title and description

for all of the pages in one single page.

WooCommerce Plugin: WooCommerce is basically a free and powerful WordPress E-

commerce plugin with a huge catalog of commercial themes and extensions that have all

the tools that might need to get the shop running. With the help of WooCommerce plugin,

one can sell both physical and digital goods in all shapes and sizes, offer product variations,

multiple configurations, and instant download to shoppers, and even sell affiliate goods

from online marketplaces. Again, with premium extensions, one can offer bookings,

memberships, and recurring subscriptions through WooCommerce plugin

(http://www.woothemes.com/plugins, n.d.). For, developing a transactional website in

WordPress WooCommerce plugin is one of the efficient and productive plugin among all

the plugin in WordPress .This plugin is very convenient and easy to maintain.

So, for our online travel business Explore Bangladesh we installed this plugin in WordPress.

Because we are selling different tour packages through our website and by installing this plugin

it is more convenient for us to offer tour packages to our customers. This plugin helps our

website to build a transactional E-commerce site for our business.

WooCommerce Social Media Share Buttons plugin: The WooCommerce Social Media

Share Buttons plugin allows visitors to easily share their products on popular social media

platforms. With the addition of a short code a customer can use it to add social media share

buttons in posts, pages, products, events, widget etc. The Social media share buttons

provide Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, LinkedIn and Email link on website to share the

products. So, for our travel business we also install this plugin so that customer can share

their tour packages to social media site.

The Constant Contact Signup Form Plugin and Contact Form 7 Plugin: Constant

Contact Signup and Contact form 07 is the plugin that are intstalled in WordPress to create

E-mail form for the customers.Our business Explore Bangladesh online travel agency uses

this plugin in our contact us page to create Email form for the customers.

Neat Skype Status plugin: Neat Skype Status plugin is istalled in WordPress to provide

a options for the customers for Skype Call .So,for our business we also install this plugin

because nowadys most of the customers expect Skype Call options in contact page to create

a efficient communication with the company.

page should have a title of what is the product about. Thus, it is necessary for a website to let

know the search engine within a little words about their business and products in title tag so that it

can show the website to the people when they are searching for its, it is very important for each

and every page of website to maintain a proper meta title and description so that it is in first sight

when any people are searching in Google and other SEO. For our business we also conduct a

research on Google form on what people typically search in about online travel agency of

Bangladesh. As our business is online tour package and my product is about a tour package in

Sajek Valley so Meta title of this product should have product name and also business name. So,

when people search about Sajek Valley tour package than they will find it at first sight on search

engine.

Meta Description:

Meta description is the summary of a page’s content which tells Google and other users about the

webpage in a brief (Fishkin, 2012).The keywords or phrases used in the tag are not used for ranking

of the site but it is used as a primary source for the snippet of the webpage. Google bolds the

important keywords in the description of the page with black color font in the search result which

helps a user to know easily whether the desired searched things is present in that webpage or not.

Without proper Meta description people will not find any interest to click on the website to have a

look. Because there are many people go to the website by seeing the Meta description of that

website. So it is important to maintain an efficient Meta description for each webpage. As my

product is Sajek Valley tour Package so in Meta description there should be a little details about

Sajek Valley like its location and about its natural beauty. Again in Meta description there should

be a short description about our business name, price and facilities. So that when people search

about Sajek tour package than they will find a little description about the Sajek location and also

know about our business and facilities which can help us to expand our business.

Body Text of Product: As our product is Sajek Valley tour Package so we develop our body text

of product related to product. There are reasons behind choosing this place for tour package. The

main reason behind choosing this place is that it is one of the famous tourist places in Bangladesh

in recent times. Again, this place is surrounded by cloud and high hill which enhance its natural

beauty to the travelers. Moreover, there are different resort, cave and temple on Sajek Valley which

is located on Khagrasori. So, this place is one of the perfect places to offer tour packages for the

travelers. Because in our country people face a lot of difficulties to manage a tour program in any

attractive for those who travel to please their eyes. But this package is specially designed for the

adventurous travelers of Bangladesh who do not like stay at one place pass days just by seeing the

natural beauty. So, for adventurous travelers, we have designed the package in such a way that

each and every day we have something to do starting from hiking in the forest area to see wildlife

This package is designed for 4 Days and 3 Nights just to make sure our travelers can visit the

arrival (Day 2), our travelers will be taken to our tourist boats and start immediately the cruising

towards the Sundarban. As this package is for the adventurous travelers, so we are taking them for

hiking in the forest at late afternoon and give them a chance to see the wildlife and the forest as

well. This is not all, we will accommodate on the tourist boat for the night the same day on Kotka

river. Plan for the Day 3 starts with roaming on the country boat through small creeks and canals

so that they can look at the natural beauty of Sundarban and watch the animal life in their own

wildlife sanctuary and walk near forest office. Same the second night, the third night as well will

We have decided to set email notification where the subject of the email notification will be the

SKU code of the product that is ordered by our customers. The reason why we decided to do that

is so our customer relationship managers can get to know what is the product ordered by our

customers without even opening the email. This will allow our CRMs to prepare things that are

needed to process an order for an specific place. For example, the SKU Code for this Winter Tour

Explore Bangladesh is an e-Commerce website and this is why My Account page is so important

for our website. The reason why this page is important because this page stores the personal

information of our beloved customers that later we use to deliver product or communicate with

them. To add My Account page, a plugin named WooCommerce is needed and once the plugin

WooCommerce is installed, this My Account page automatically adds in along with some other

pages like and Shop, Cart, Checkout and some default payment gateway services built-in Checkout

page.

For Adding these pages mentioned above, the plugin we installed is WooCommerce, world’s most

used plugin to power e-commerce websites that powers as many as 30% of world’s all online stores

(WooCommerce - A Free eCommerce Toolkit for WordPress, n.d.).

To install this plugin, after logging in to the back-end of the website, placed mouse pointer on

Plugin menu in the left panel and clicked on Add New from the drop down menu and searched for

the WooCommerce plugin; finally installed and activated the website. Though all of the pages

(Shop, Cart, Checkout) were not as it is right now in the website. All of the pages were showing

individually in the navigation bar and some of the pages were not even showing. So, we had to

create a menu and then change the order of the pages as we like to see them in the Navigation bar

of the website from Appearance section of back-end’s left panel.

Shop and Cart pages are automated and that’s why it was not big of a deal to change how it should

look; all we did was change the page’s Templet to Full Width so that no sidebars show in the pages.

The most important thing we had to do was in the checkout page where our customers will pay.

So, in Bangladesh, it’s not possible to place order using PayPal and using VISA, Master, Nexus

Cards is not easier for all, so we tried the most used payment method now-a-days, bKash. So, for

adding bKash as payment method, we had to install another plugin which is WooCommerce

bKash.

Budget Description

First of all, we need to pay yearly 1,500tk for Domain name and 1,800tk for Hosting. Then, we

will buy computers for our office which will cost us total 1, 75,000tk; also we need Broadband

internet connection for that we have to spend 24,000tk per year. Moreover, we have to spend total

4, 83,200tk for office rent, office equipment, decoration, office maintenance and mobile bill. As

we have to hire office employees, we need to pay yearly 7, 20,000tk salary. Furthermore, we will

also have an amount of budget for promotional activities and contingency plan which will cost

respectively 2, 40,000tk and 20,000tk. In our contingency plan, we choose BackBlaze to secure

our information so that if any disaster occurs we can recover our data. Though it will increase our

cost a little bit but it ensures safety. So, overall our total budget will be 16, 65,500tk per year.
