Danilkin S.A., Jadrowskij E.L. PI4-97-64Phonon Dispersion Curves in Nb Measuredwith DIN-2PI Time-of-Flight Spectrometer at IBR-2 Reactor

The phonon dispersion curves in niobium were measured with direct geometry neutron spectrometer DIN-2PI. The data derived are in agreement with known dispersion curves obtained using the triple-axis spectrometer. The experimental capabilities of the time-of-flight neutron spectrometer are analyzed for the measure­ments of the phonons in desired symmetry direction. The experimental results and calculations show the good possibilities for the detail phonon dispersion measurements with multidetector DIN-2PI spectrometer. Simultaneously with phonons with wave vectors in desired direction a large number of phonons in non-symmetry directions were derived.
