Why FCRA registration –
FCRA is mandated by Min. of Home Affairs (MHA), for getting international
funding.
Organizations can receive foreign contribution/funds/donations, from any foreign
source.
It ensures foreign contributions received are not utilized for illegal purposes, or in
any anti-national activities.

Types of FCRA registrations –
Prior Permission Registration: The Prior Permission route is ideally suited for
Societies, Trusts & Section 8 organizations, which are newly registered and
would like to receive foreign contributions. This is granted for receipt of a specific
amount from a specific donor for carrying out specific activities/projects.
Normal Registration: For those Societies, Trusts or Section 8 organization,
who have spent a minimum of Rs. 10,00,000/- in the last 3 years towards
achieving its objectives (excludeing administrative expenditure).
1. Certified True Copy of society's registration certificate.
2. Certified True Copy of Memorandum of Association.
3. Copy of certificates of exemption or registration issued by the Income Tax
Department u/s. 80G and 12A.
4. Certified True Copy of Governing Body/ Council resolution for transferring
FCRA bank account.

5. Copy of latest FC - 3 Return (with enclosures).
6. Letter from the bank where account is opened confirming details of bank
account opened exclusively for foreign contribution.
7. List of present members of the Governing Body of the organisation and the
office bearers.
8. Copy of Power of Attorney or the resolution of Governing Body by which the
Chief Functionary is authorised to submit FC-8.

Step 2 - Create Login ID and password.

Step 3 - All the required documents are to be uploaded in PDF format.
Step 4 - FCRA registration is granted, the validity is for a five year period.
Note - Under recent MHA guidelines every FCRA registered organization
will have to open a main FCRA account in State Bank of India, HQ Branch,
New Delhi, to receive any international funds, after which the amount can
be transferred to any other branch account for use.
