Bi-Weekly No. 15, Aug. 2, 2017 faith friendship fellowship followership fruitfulness www.firstsayyes.com FirsT Here’s the Scoop! In March of 2016 we tragically lost the Downtown facility to fire. In June of the year we elected a building team to research op- tions as we prayed for God to reveal our future. In February of 2017 we voted to purchase land on Thompson Blvd as we an- ticipated constructing a new facility for worship and discipleship. At the same time we determined that the downtown location would be retained for future development as opportunity pre- sents itself. Presently, it is being made into a prayer garden: a place for weddings, memorial celebrations and seasonal worship. The three locations of First United Methodist Church of Sedalia present amazing opportu- nity for us to live out our mission of “leading people to an active faith in Jesus Christ.” Conveniently located 2.4 miles from each other, God’s vision continues to unfold before us. You have prayed and given us your hopes and dreams and we, the building team, are ex- cited to announce that we have a plan for the new site of First United Methodist Church of Sedalia. This has been developed through much prayer and conversation with the architec- tural firm of Marshall, Waters, Woody of Springfield, Missouri. WE INVITE YOU!! You are invited to attend one of the informational gatherings regarding the new facility to be built at the Thompson Blvd location. We have seen many answered prayers and our building team is excited to show you a plan which we believe will address many of our min- istry needs and the hopes and dreams we have for reaching our community for Christ. The first gathering will be on Sunday, August 6th at 7 p.m. We will serve ice cream and take time to look at the building layout and proposed design. We will do our best to answer questions on what we know to this point. We will lay out the next steps of the process with the hope that there is a great, positive response to this proposed new facility. Other gatherings (for those who are unable to attend on August 6th) will be: Monday, August 7th at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 9th at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 12th at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, August 13th at 2 p.m. A nursery will be available during these times. This is leading up to a congregational vote to be held on Sunday, August 20th at 12 noon. Our District Superintendent, Rev, Jim Simpson will lead us as we vote “YES” or “NO” for the plan and empower the building team in conjunction with the Leadership Council to take the process forward. From that point forward, technical drawings will be rendered then released to potential contractors leading to the receiving of and awarding of a contract by the building team & Leadership Council on behalf of the congregation. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT and Historic VOTE. We cherish your prayers and your partici- pation in voting. All members of the congregation are encouraged to PRAY and vote as God leads you. We believe God has blessed us with this unique opportunity to reach our com- munity with Jesus’ love.
