LESSON 5.2SOLVING
EQUATIONS WITH VARIABLES ON
EACH SIDE
To solve equations with variables on each side, use the Addition or Subtraction Property of Equality to write an equivalent equation with the variables on one side. Then solve the equation.
For Your Notes:
HERE IS HOW YOU DO IT!!!
a) 3x = x + 8 b) 3x – 2 = x + 4
YOUR TURN:Solve for x:
A) 7x = 5x + 4
B) 5x + 12 = 2x
Here is how you do it
YOUR TURN:Solve for x. Check your solution:
A) 2x + 3 = 3x – 2
B) 5p + 15 = p -49
C) 7x + 3 = 2x + 23
LET’S TRY A FEW MORE
