An on-going project involves chemicals that stabilize G-quadruplex DNA structure, the DNA structure that is believed to inhibit the activity of telomerase. Telomerase is essential for the immortality of cancer cells. Since the activity of telomerase is not detected in most normal somatic cells, inhibiting telomerase will affect only cancer cells. Besides from G-quadruplex interacting agents, I am also interested in study of anticancer drugs or other agents that interact with DNA.

Research Interests:
The goal of her research career is to contribute research on vector-borne diseases in Thailand particularly in the area of mosquito molecular biology and the use of transgenic technique to create mosquito strains incapable of transmitting malaria and other disease pathogens. She is also interested in the area of molecular taxonomy of insects using DNA based methods. Her current project is on analysis of haemolymph and thoracic muscle proteins in Brugia malayi-susceptible mosquito, Aedes togoi. The project is in the early stage, however, we hope to find some differences in the haemolymph and thoracic muscle proteins of the infected and non-infected mosquitoes.
