Opening in summer 2013, BoomerangCafe.ie is a youth

café for 12-18 year olds. It’s a place where you can meet

your friends, grab a bite to eat and get involved in art,

music, drama, games and other hobbies. You can drop

in to check your e-mails or to watch your favourite TV

programmes on the big screen. Open seven days a week

including late nights, it’s your youth café - for you and

your friends!

AboutBoomerangCafe.ie

Where is it? It’s located in No. 62 Fair Street, right in the heart of Drogheda.

When is it open?BoomerangCafe.ie will be open 7 days a week including late evenings.

Who is it for?BoomerangCafe.ie is for you and all the young people of the greater Drogheda area. All you have to do is to register as a member and you can drop in any time you want.

Is there a membership fee? Membership fee is €10.00 per young person per year.

Who will manage BoomerangCafe.ie?BoomerangCafe.ie will be staffed and managed by the Drogheda Youth Development team. For the past 20 years, the DYD team have provided support services to young people in Drogheda. Now BoomerangCafe.ie will expand this service to become a centre for all of the young people of the area. BoomerangCafe.ie will provide the much needed youth café that the young people of Drogheda have been asking for.

Education Programmes:In addition to the recreational activities available in BoomerangCafe.ie, a number of formal and informal education and preventative programmes will also be delivered:

• Literacy/Numeric support, Homework Support

• I Scoil – Out of school Programme • ESLO – Education Skills Learning

Programme – support for early school leavers

• Peer Education Drug/Alcohol Programme

• Awareness Talks/Workshops such as Healthy Living, Drug & Alcohol, SafeTALK, Sexual Health, Relationships etc.

• Mind Out Mental Health Programme• Delay – Sexual Health • ASSIST – Suicide Prevention• Copping On – Crime Prevention

There are loads of support services available for young people, but sometimes it’s hard to find them. BoomerangCafe.ie brings together all these services under one roof … so if you have a question or need support, just come to us and we’ll be able to help!
