NEBOSH Naonal General Cerficate in Occupaonal Health and Safety (Block Release) This is the most widely held health and safety qualificaon in the UK. In a recent survey of successful students, conducted by NEBOSH, over 97% of respondents would recommend the qualificaon to others. This course is suitable for: Managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organizaons who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues. The cerficate helps them manage risks effecvely. Many people take the NEBOSH NGC as a first step in a career in health and safety. It provides a valuable overview and is a sound basis for further professional study. Prospecve candidates may be asked to engage in a short telephone interview with the lead tutor before enrolment is completed. What does the qualificaon cover? The NEBOSH NGC covers the main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK, idenficaon and control of workplace hazards, and the praccal applicaon of this knowledge. Although previous health and safety knowledge or experience is not a pre–requisite, candidates should note that assessment includes a requirement to produce a wrien report as well as sing the wrien examinaons. The qualificaon is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately: • Management of health and safety (NGC1) • Controlling workplace hazards (GC2) • Health and safety praccal applicaon (GC3) How is it assessed? Units NGC1 and GC2 are taught units each assessed by a two-hour wrien examinaon. Each wrien examinaon consists of ten ‘short-answer’ quesons and one ‘long-answer’ queson. All quesons are mandatory. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH. Unit GC3 is assessed by a two-hour praccal project type examinaon carried out in the candidate’s own workplace. It is externally moderated by NEBOSH. The next course commences in August 2018 at our Stroud campus. Aendance will be required for two blocks of one week each, with a week’s break between each block. In addion, two further days aendance for revision and wrien examinaons. The current cost of this course is £1,250.00 (may be subject to change). This fee includes tuion, materials, NEBOSH registraon, exams and cerficaon. There is ample parking at the Stroud campus and light refreshments will be provided.
