How you position yourself in your chair has a big effect on how you feel and your health. Aim for proper alignment of

your head and neck over your shoulders while keeping your feet supported by the floor. Your back should be straight and

resting against the seat back. Good posture benefits circulation, breathing, organ function and muscle strength.

Don't let too much sitting get you out of shape.

Hello friends, ne feels protective, devoted towards his/ her school. A bond that formulates from kindergarten only strengthens year by year till children clear board exams and get into another exuberant world called college. Formative years are all spent in schools. Introduction to knowledge and information happens here. Naturally after spending fi fteen years of life in school, separating from it becomes painful.

Tenth standard exams keep this feeling of departure at bay because entire year is dedicated to preparation for the exams. Once done, there is a gathering of feelings where nostalgia, sadness, excitement, curiosity, nervousness, etc. cause a furore in the mind. It’s at this exact time that one needs to decide about the career path that he/ she wants to proceed on.

While going ahead, some people know what they want to take up while some are clueless. In any case, a decision needs to be made soon. It can get burdensome for children, often escalating pressure. But we all know, decisions made under fear and pressure don’t work.

If you are in this phase, take time out to contemplate your interests, consider your options. And if there is ambiguity, take an aptitude test. Doing this will give a clear idea of what interests you. Your liking and inclination is essential while pursuing a career but it’s only when you are actually involved in it, that you will decide to stick around or jump to another opportunity. Nature of job, its outer attributes like – power, position, money, etc. obviously matters but what work you do, skills required for it, output you give, etc. matters more. These are the factors that determine your interest in your work. Once you start enjoying it, money starts fl owing in.

Remember, you have just cleared your board exams, your entire life lies ahead of you. Make the best possible choice but don’t sulk if you need to change it later. Readjusting your focus once in a while is perfectly allowed to live a picture-perfect life!

A gentle note to parents You must be anxious about your child’s future, all this while you have fi ercely protected him from the attacking world. You can do that even now, but passively. Understand what your child wants, his fears, doubts, aspirations, etc. Tell him fi nancial, social constraints (if any). Also discuss the long term career prospects of the course he/she is undertaking. Basically, have a dialog where both get to speak and listen to each other.

Sitting on an exercise ball is more exercise than you think. Exercise balls force the core muscles to work in order to maintain balance and stability. You also burn more calories than you would sitting in a chair.

If you are new to using an exercise ball, do it in small increments at first to get your body and muscles used to this sitting position.

n May 5, 2018, under a sunny sky and on a patch of green in Unit B of Blue Ridge, a group of young enthusiastic children came together to interact and experience the joy of playing with pet dogs. They played catch, ran about, petted and cuddled their furry friends and then settled down in a circle to learn more about dog behaviour, their needs, safety and health concerns and our responsibilities as dog-lovers or otherwise.

Led by Rohit Bhatia and his team of volunteers, they discussed safe and practical ways to feed street dogs. It was agreed that: Street dogs are best fed in the designated

‘Dog Feeding Area’ near Unit A. No food scraps or leftovers should be fed to

street dogs within the residential compound; this prevents littering and also restricts other dogs from entering the premises.

Children should always be accompanied by supervising adults when approaching street dogs.

Basic rules of safety and animal behaviour should be followed.

The children agreed to be our task force and help spread the word and respect the action points discussed.

We ended it on a happy note with yummy treats and refreshments for all!

The interaction was followed by a poster-

making session for the children of Unit B. The posters were then put up in all the buildings of Unit B in order to spread the message the children understood so well. A similar session was held for the Senior Citizens of Unit B. They welcomed the initiative and agreed to guide others with regard to feeding street dogs.

All in all, the ‘Know Your Pets’ programme which was spread over multiple weeks was a satisfying experience, with concerned residents reaching out to us with their queries and showing appreciation for the efforts being put in by the group.

t was the fi rst day of my new venture and I was really excited and a little tense too. After all, it was a dream come true and after so long; I was trying to fulfi l one item from my bucket list. So naturally I was expecting a call from my husband who was out of town, to express his good wishes. All my friends and relatives were wishing me the best of luck, instead my eyes stayed fi xed on my mobile phone, my ears tuned into its ringtone.

For a moment I thought let me call him and accept his wishes, what’s the harm? So I dialled his number but to my surprise he didn’t answer! Now that sent my thoughts on a wild ride! Forget calling me, he didn’t even answer my call! I need to talk to him so badly and he’s just not bothered at all! Does he even care for me? Doesn’t he love me anymore?

Amid all that negative self-talk and disturbed state of mind, I somehow managed to conduct my fi rst sessions. Later, when he came back home, I expressed all my pent-up anger in every possible way! I don’t remember what I said but I know it was defi nitely hurtful. After listening to me quietly, he told me why he hadn’t called to wish me luck. His friend had suffered a mild heart attack and he was busy hospitalising him. God, what I had done! I had reacted to the situation under the infl uence of anger. Further, I had carried it with me and it had affected my sessions too. I should have waited until he explained why he hadn’t called but words once spoken...

It was after this incident that I started ‘aligning my anger’, so that it doesn’t drive me all over the place, doesn’t compel me to take action without thinking and it doesn’t make me hurt my near and dear ones. I knew that no matter what, strong emotions were going to appear but I started treating them as guests; like some of whom you like and some of whom you don’t, but you simply have to welcome them all.

Frankly, no emotion is good or bad but when we label them, we create a tendency to hold on to the pleasant emotions and either suppress or resist the non-pleasant ones. Emotion is nothing but ‘Energy in Motion’ and this energy will never dissolve but will transform into something else. Worse still are bottled-up emotions that may manifest themselves in other forms, at times even in the form of illnesses and diseases, so they’re best dealt with in time. Moreover, they bring us

a message, something we need to know about ourselves.

And so I started welcoming my emotions wholeheartedly because if I didn’t do so now, they would just keep knocking on my mind’s door. And here are a few things I learnt about this process along the way...1. Don’t just welcome emotions but listen to

them carefully. Why are they there? Where have they come from? What’s their purpose? Amazingly, I realised that once you have a dialogue with them they’re easy to deal with and understand. But at the same time don’t allow them to control you or let yourself get carried away by them.

2. Treat them alike and accepting them unconditionally. It’s important to not be judgmental about them.

3. After listening, attending to and understanding them, I started acting confi dently on them. This usually is self-revealing.

4. Build a self-care menu that includes:a) Practising mindfulness and meditation. b) Talking to a friend who really understands you. c) Taking a walk in Nature to tune into yourself

and recharge.d) Being more compassionate about and to

yourself. e) Listening to music which makes you feel good. f) Writing a diary, as to how I feel. And checking

that diary after some days to compare what were the feelings when I wrote the dairy and am I feeling the same now, if not, then why should I take a step or act or say something carelessly upon a thing which is temporary.

g) Some emotions may not clearly reveal their purpose and you need to be patient with them.

h) Then don’t forget to say bye-bye to them! Remember, they’re your guests, don’t resist them but understand them and act on them the right way, for they’re not supposed to linger long. Anger is a guest who comes and goes, so

always think twice before you act on it and don’t ever let it hurt you or your near and dear ones.

06Word Power

Just because you are seated doesn't mean you can't be physically active. Chair exercise helps you

tone your body, build muscle strength, improve heart health and lose weight. Try leg and knee lifts, ankle rotations, sit and bends, arm circles, crunches or seated running. For variety, do intervals of each.

Sitting too long is never a good idea, but if you have to stay

seated, why not stay healthy too?

Words have power. Th ey can either uplift someone or tear them down, even when you say them to yourself. What have your words been saying about you lately?

As Good as Your Word

M other Teresa said, “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” Language made up of words facilitates communication and allows us to understand each other. We feel connected, signifi cant and safe with people.

Words are powerful because they carry energy. Positive words increase energy levels and negative words deplete it, so always choose your words wisely. Your words affect others and remember that people and their behaviour are products of words they hear or read.

It is important to understand that, our internal chatter also called ‘self talk’ is almost always negative in nature. It is mainly about our weaknesses, regrets, hurt and anger. This self-dialogue infl uences our mood, habits and many facets of our individuality, so pay attention to it on daily basis and rewire your mind with positive thoughts.

Always speak positively to yourself too as our mind/brain fi nds it very diffi cult to process negative images or instructions. ‘I can do it’, I am courageous’, ‘I want to learn and grow’, are examples of positive thoughts. Avoid negative words such as ‘I can’t’, ‘I don’t’, ‘But’, ‘If only’… Always give instructions of what to do instead of what not to do! This is the key to stop many bad habits quickly, without medication.

Here are a few ‘magic’ words that help you connect effectively with others and make for better communication: Yes: Saying yes non-verbally in the form of

a smile or nodding at the beginning of an interaction eases tension and builds rapport too. It helps to keep the conversation going.

A name: Simply saying someone’s name connects the other person with you and makes him/her feel important.

Because: It holds the answer to a query and makes the conversation effective.

If: In school, students are rewarded for the ‘correct’ answers and punished for the ‘wrong’ answers; this carries over later in life too. So many times we prefer saying, “I do not know” to avoid getting it wrong. “If” makes everything hypothetical and people

are more honest and creative and feel free to take chances.

Please: It shows respect and consideration. Saying please shows that a person is polite.

Thanks: Expressing appreciation has a magical effect. It gratifi es the other person. Words satisfy the soul as food satisfi es the

stomach. So speak up and use the right words to uplift yourself and others. Life is beautiful already; make it even more beautiful with your words.

Who We Are I am Amit Dhamdhere and I’m not really what you would have in mind when you think of a ‘farmer’. I have a background in Information Technology and pretty much lived the life of a regular ‘techie’. With a commerce background and a six-year-old animation fi rm to run, I was simply trying to build a dream life. The transition from an

animation fi rm to an agro-eco farm happened after I visited our ancestral property in Talegaon Dhamdhere which is located 35 km from Pune. That one visit connected me deeply to my roots and I was driven by the dream to share this incredible bond with Nature with as many people as possible. And thus like a rising sun, Aroha Srushti was born, bright and breathtakingly beautiful!

I am Ajit Dhamdhere with a background in science. I help Amit make Aroha Srushti a world-class experience for all visitors. I knew this opportunity to be a part of Aroha Srushti would give me a deep insight into this almost spiritual world of farming. I also knew that it would give me a chance to

be close to Nature and enjoy all its abundant offerings and benefi ts to the fullest. The foundation of Aroha Srushti is built on the pillars of a dedicated team, one of them is Rahul Kumbhar, our manager who is always ready to do what it takes to make your experience at the farm as memorable as possible. We want to make sure that the experience remains an incredible takeaway for every individual who spends time here!

Diego Maradona(Att. Midfi elder, Argentina & Barcelona/Napoli, 1980s/90s)There may be several legends on this list that have led their teams to win the World Cup but no other can claim to have done this single-handedly to the extent that Diego Maradona did in 1986, scoring fi ve goals and making fi ve assists in seven games. The Argentina team of that year included a few very good players (Valdano, Burruchago) but they were by no means a great team and would certainly not have won the trophy without Maradona.

2Johann Cruyff (Inside Forward, Netherlands & Ajax/Barcelona, 1970s)Johann Cruyff was an incredibly skilful and creative player. He was also a great thinker about the game and leader on the pitch. He worked with his coach Rinus Michels to develop the Total Football system, in which players interchanged positions, attacked with fl uidity and defended by closing down space. Cruyff pulled the strings on the pitch to implement this great vision and acted as inspiration to his team. A great dribbler, passer and goal scorer - so skilful that he developed his own move - the 'Cruyff turn' - he played with a verve and freedom that was a joy to watch.

3LionelMessiRight Winger/Support Striker, Argentina & Barcelona, 2000s/10sOne of the best players in today’s times and the star of a remarkable Barcelona team for almost ten years, Messi is a creative forward that can play from wide or central positions, drifting from deep, beating players and setting up and scoring goals seemingly out of nowhere. He has won the European Footballer of the Year four times, more than anyone else ever, and is the all-time leading scorer in the European Cup. His form for Argentina, while still impressive has generally not matched his club form and he is not revered in his home country the same way that Maradona still is.

5FerencPuskasInside Forward, Hungary & Honved / Real Madrid, 1950sPuskas was one of the greatest players of all time and an innovator of the way the game is played. He scored an incredible 83 goals in 85 games for Hungary and 514 goals in 529 games at club level. This makes him the most prolifi c international goalscorer of all time, incredibly a record that still stands today. Puskas effectively had two careers, each of which would place him on the list of legends. First he was the captain of the great 'Magical Magyars' Hungary team of the 1950s and revolutionized tactical play, by introducing withdrawn forwards, fl uid positional play and a strong team ethic, and changing how football is played to this day.

6Alfredo DiStefanoAttacking Midfi elder, Argentina/Spain & Real Madrid, 1950sThe great Alfredo Di Stefano was the undisputed leader, star player and eternal symbol of the greatest club side ever seen, leading Real Madrid to win fi ve back-to-back European Cups, a feat that has not ever looked like being repeated since. In so doing he became an inspiration to countless other players, including several other legends on this list. He also promoted the game, and more specifi cally the European Cup, earning praise throughout the world and bringing thousands fl ocking to see him.

Di7

RonaldoStriker, Brazil & Barca/Inter/R. Madrid, 1990s/00sRonaldo is a player with a great story, one that is interwoven with the history of the World Cup. When he led Brazil to the trophy in 2002, scoring 8 goals in the process, he was validating a personal comeback and claiming the recognition he deserved for his career up to that point. He exploded on the world scene with his one season at Barcelona in 1996/97, scoring 47 goals in 49 games and taking the club to a Cup Winners Cup trophy. His pace, dribbling and goal scoring ability were incredible, accompanied by a masterful close control gained from his early career as a futsal player. This was the best form of his career and he won the FIFA World Player in 1996 at the age of just 20.

8ZinedineZidaneAtt. Midfi elder, France & Juventus/R.Madrid, 1990s/00sOne of the greatest midfi elders the game has ever known. Zidane played with such elegance, vision and sublime technique that when a fi lm was made consisting solely of slow motion footage of him playing in one game it was taken entirely seriously as piece of art. In the 1998 World Cup Zidane succeeded where Platini had previously failed, winning the trophy to become a unifying symbol for his country. Zidane's greatest moment for France came two years later in Euro 2000 when he was the undisputed star of the competition leading France to victory.

94FranzBeckenbauerSweeper, W. Germany & Bayern Munich, 1960s/70sNo one has ever achieved more success for club and country than Franz Beckenbauer. For Bayern Munich he won three back-to-back European Cups from 1974-76. For his country he won the World Cup. After impressing in the 1966 and 1970 World Cups, and winning the 1972 European Championships, he captained his side to win the trophy in 1974. What is more impressive is that Beckenbauer was the most infl uential player in these great teams (both Bayern Munich and West Germany), and did this from a central defensive position rather than as a midfi elder or forward.

Pele(Inside Forward, Brazil & Santos, 1950s-70s)Pele is and always will be the greatest footballer ever. It is a role he wears very comfortably. His play, full of joy and exuberance, seems to sum up everything that the world loves about the game and as he travels the globe acting as its greatest ambassador his own legend is reinforced. Pele is a true global icon, one of very few in sport, and is indivisibly linked to the game in the public imagination. When the world thinks of football it thinks of Pele, and not just football but el joga bonito(the 'beautiful game') as Pele named it. It is an association that football benefi ts from, and that is the best summary of why Pele is number 1.

08 09

10

GarrinchaRight Winger, Brazil & Botafogo, 1950s/60sGarrincha was born with deformed knees and it was a miracle he could play at all, but instead he was a genius with the ball, probably the best dribbler of all time. He would tear teams apart from the right wing, delighting the crowds with his tricks, scoring great goals and creating many chances for his team-mates. It seemed like he was playing for his own amusement most of the time. He went to the 1958 World Cup with equal billing to Pele and proved just as important in leading Brazil to victory. In 1962, with Pele injured, he picked up the mantle and became the player of the tournament and the inspiration behind his country's second World Cup victory.

Sitting too long can put a strain on the neck that results in headaches, shoulder pain and other body aches. Fortunately, you can exercise your neck while seated. With your left hand on your head, gently

tilt your head to the left. Repeat the exercise on the other side. You might also try chin tucks or side-to-side head rotations.

Though unavoidable, learn how to keep your body fit when you have

LP empowers your mind with fl exibility and shows you how sheer humility and mind power can get you out of diffi cult situations. NLP techniques give you clarity of thought and help you accept the situation, identify solutions and execute decisions effectively. Maybe the source of NLP lies with Lord Krishna whose great presence of mind helped the Pandavas immeasurably...

...It was the day of the Kurukshetra war between the Pandavas and the Kauravas. Drona has just been killed by Arjuna in a somewhat unethical fi ght. Drona was misled by Yudhisthira who told him that his son Aswathama had been killed. Instead the Pandavas had only killed an elephant by the same name and had Yudhisthira proclaim to Drona ‘Aswathama dead, alias elephant’ but the second part (alias elephant) was spoken too softly for Drona to hear. He was so devastated hearing the news that he put down his arms and Arjuna killed his guru instantly and without hesitation.

When Aswathama heard of his father’s death and the way he was misled, his anger knew no bounds. Thanks to Drona, he too had mastered the art of archery and was bestowed with lot of powerful astras (weapons). One of the most lethal ones was the ‘Vaishnavastra’ (perhaps second only to the ‘Brahmaseer Astra’, which he used after the Kuruskhetra war on the Pandavas). This particular weapon was all-powerful, capable of decimating the Pandava army and the Pandavas had no countermeasure for the same.

The fi erce astra was shaped like a burning chakra (a rotating wheel — the key weapon of Lord Vishnu) and it started wreaking havoc on the Pandava army. As the brave warriors looked on

helplessly, Yudhisthira rushed to Lord Krishna for help. Krishna being the avatar (form) of Lord Vishnu could have stopped the weapon but he could not participate actively in the war. Hence, he suggested a countermeasure for the same — one known only to him. Krishna advised Yudhisthira to ask all his warriors to bow in reverence to the weapon. With this, the weapon will lose its power. Yudhisthira immediately asked all his warriors to drop their weapons and bow to the weapon in true devotion. Everyone did so with the exception of Bhima, the second Pandava brother who refused to accept the fact that the weapon could not be defeated. So blinded was he by his own sense of power that he started to hurl a variety of powerful weapons towards the Vaishnavastra but to no avail. The other key feature of this particular all-powerful

weapon was that its energy and destruction capabilities increased in direct proportion to the weapons hurled towards it. So by the time Bhima had thrown a couple, the Vaishnavastra had grown into a massive destructor, raging with fi re. Yudhisthira and Lord Krishna, scared by Bhima’s brazen foolishness, also started to plead with him to drop his weapons and bow. But Bhima’s ego was just too big; he was not ready to accept defeat despite common sense dictating that this was a losing battle. After he sent a few more weapons towards it, the Vaishnavastra changed course and came menacingly towards Bhima, killing thousands in the Pandava army on the way.

The sight of the humongous weapon coming towards him fi nally scared Bhima. With not much time left, he hurriedly dropped his weapons and bowed to the

Vaishnavastra. But his mind was still clouded by his ego and hence his reverence to the weapon was missing. The weapon continued its trajectory towards Bhima. Lord Krishna again reminded Bhima to bow with complete subjection and reverence to avoid being killed. This opened Bhima’s eyes and he bowed in absolute subjugation and reverence. The weapon slowly lost its power and vanished to the utter enjoyment and relief of the Pandavas.

This is such a wonderful lesson for all of us who are temporarily blinded by power and ego that we forget to acknowledge the greater power close by and end up losing corporate or personal battles. Winning actually needs a lot more mental humility than brazen power. All it really requires is a more intelligent use of power and the perseverance to win.

How to Play KenKen?

Fill the grid with digits so as not to repeat a digit in any row or column, and so the digits within each heavily outlined box or boxes (called a cage) will produce the target number shown in that cage by using the operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division) shown by the symbol after the numeral.

For example, the notation 6+ means that the numerals in the cage should add up to 6 and the notation 48x means that by multiplying the numbers in the cage you will get 48. A 4x4 grid will use the digits 1-4, a 5x5 grid will use 1-5, a 6x6 grid will use 1-6, and so on.

For single box cages, simply enter the number that is shown in the corner.

f the seven sisters of India, this summer we planned our holiday itinerary around three of them — Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya (Shillong). And of the three, I have to say, Arunachal is truly the most enthralling holiday destination in India!

Rising from the tropical lush valleys of the river Bramhaputra, nestled in the isolated splendour of the Eastern Himalayas, the remotest outpost of the North Eastern States famed as the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ — Arunachal Pradesh is simply astonishingly beautiful! Strung out along the mysterious, snow-clad mountain peaks, verdant valleys, swift rivers, mighty waterfalls, hilly roads, foggy climate, heavy rainfall, wondrous natural beauties — the State has it all and more! To travel in Arunachal one needs an Inner Line Permit, which can be obtained from the resident commissioners in Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata and Tezpur. We started our journey from Guwahati by road in a sturdy SUV and a skilled driver to guide us. Our route was as follows: Guwahati-Kaziranga-Dirang-Tawang- Bomdila-Cherrapunji-Meghalaya-Shillong-Guwahati. There was a lot to explore in 10 days!

Arunachal is huge and travelling along the vast tracts of mountainous terrain is deemed too arduous and time-consuming to be completed in 10 days. But our journey turned out to be full of adventure, discovery and picturesque sights. The popular tourist circuits we visited were: Bhalukpong, Dirang, Tawang, Bomdila and Nameri.

From Guwahati we proceeded towards Kaziranga. We had booked a jeep safari tour at the famous ‘Rhino’ sanctuary. The awe-inspiring sight of hog deer, elephants and the one-horned rhino was indeed thrilling for the children and adults

too! The area is also home to rare and famous species of orchids; the colourful fl owers were a complete delight to behold and we spent hours photographing the stunning beauties.

On the way to Tawang we came across many scenic spots which made us to stop and click many photographs. We reached Dirang which was a transit halt in the evening; the journey took us 22 hours but it was worth it! We woke up to a foggy sight of snow-clad mountains and to temperatures of 10° Celsius and a chilly mountain breeze. As we headed towards Tawang, the temperature dropped to 4° Celsius and it was freezing despite the thermal wear. But we reached to Paradise Lake, and the view of Sela Pass with a height of 13,750 feet, were truly an experience to cherish.

Mystifying snow-clad peaks, serene mountains, lush greenery, roaring waterfalls, magnifi cent monasteries and memorials, helpful locals, and breathtaking natural beauty — a holiday in the North East, especially in Arunachal Pradesh is simply unforgettable! Here’s why...

Th e ‘Scotland of the East’ We then explored the second largest monastery in Asia which is an immensely beautiful structure with spectacular sculptures. The Tawang War Memorial — via Jaswantgarh and en route to Bum La Pass — is at a distance of 40 km from Tawang, near the Indo-China Border at 16,500 feet above sea level. With the oxygen level so low and the freezing cold weather, it was awe-inspiring to see the Indian Army serving our borders and guarding them round the clock; hats off to our soldiers on duty at this arduous posting!

The heavy fog and snowfall led to very poor visibility and made our drive extremely diffi cult but thanks to our trained driver, we made our way through it safely. Thereafter, we headed to the Pankang Teng Tso (PTSO) Lake and Sangetsar Tso Lake; the breathtaking views here were simply unforgettable!

You take away many memories and thoughts from this trip to the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’... First and foremost is the might and glory of our Indian Army who strive to defend the nation as well as help the civilians living in the region. In this remote area and in such adverse climate, it is only thanks to the Army base camps that you as a tourist get light meals, piping hot tea and coffee. The soldiers are on duty to assist the tourists visiting Arunachal too.

Arunachal Pradesh is truly a hidden gem of India that is yet to see a crazy infl ux of tourists. The landscape here is proof enough that Nature is still in its pure and pristine state. The local residents are very humble and helpful towards tourists and you feel safe and secure even in the remotest part of the State because of the presence of the Indian Army. We even got to see a clear view of the borders that we share with China, Bhutan and Bangladesh and the whole experience was spellbinding indeed!

When compared to Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh has the deadliest routes and the most perilous roads but it is worth the effort taken to travel there! I was lucky enough to experience the magnifi cent beauty of the three sisters because of a cousin who had been there last year. I owe him for helping and encouraging us to travel to this unique, untouched part of India.

Now with these three amazing States checked off our travel wish list; we look forward to visiting the other four sisters next year!
