On the return part of the mission a bearing had bro-ken in the antenna of the satellite dish in the communication center on earth, which could have had tragic consequences. If a repair couldn’t be made immedi-ately, all communications between the astronauts and the control towers could be destroyed. This could potentially make it impossible for the astronauts to return to earth.

Fixing the problem was relatively easy but small hands were necessary to fit into a tube in order to grease and repair the crack. Nobody’s hands were small enough to do the job. Suddenly, the director of the tracking sta-tion, Charles Force, had an idea. He offered that his son could repair the crack. His nimble youthful fingers would be able to do what nobody else could do.

On a small island in Micronesia, where the control center was stationed, where some of the greatest minds were working together, the only one who could prevent a devastating disaster from occurring was a 10-year-old boy.

And so, he did. He carefully manipulated his hand through the small tube and did what was needed to fix the crack. One little boy, one major problem, and one life-saving success!

This story by itself is quite inspiring but let us take I one step further: One small child, one heart render-ing voice in prayer, one merciful smile from Hashem, and one redemption.

Boruch Hashem, we are blessed with many chil-dren (בלי עין הרע), many voices, many tefilos, and great Rachamim from Hashem. May the Geulah we are so yearning for, come very soon.

Good Shabbos.

Dear Parents and Friends,

When we first embarked on “Zoom School”, I felt like I was navigating a boat in a blanket of dense fog that enveloped my total being. I could not imagine that this dense miasma would part to allow me to see where I was going.

With each passing day there have been beacons of light guiding me and showing me the way. The brightest beacon of light has come from the kindness of the Rebono Shel Olam; other lights have come from our faculty and parents whose perseverance and determination offer a unique illumination. How-ever, the light that punctuates the darkness of the classrooms and hallways is the luminescence of our children.

I am increasingly proud of our children as I “zoom” from class to class. I am encouraged an feel hope for the future. Wherever they are, Hashem takes their tefilos, their learning, and their innocence, and puts it in His treasure box reserved for the guar-antors of the Torah – our children.

The definition for the word “normal” is changing every day. We do not know yet what tomorrow will bring, but one thing does remain constant: the power our children have to open the gates of Rachamim in Shomayim.

In one of his books, Rabbi Yechiel Spero relates the following story:

On July 20th, 1969, history was made. Man landed on the moon. With bated breath everyone waited for Neil Armstrong to plant the American flag. He did so, and America cheered over this incredible accomplish-ment.

LEARNING TORAH. LOVING TORAH. LIVING TORAH.

May 15, 202021 Iyar, 5780

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all of you who attended our Parent/Teacher class meetings last week. It was very heartwarming to gather together with you, albeit, through Zoom. The camaraderie and devoted efforts to assist our children in the learning process have, once again, demonstrated what a special school we have.

Your suggestions, insights, and constructive recommendations are person-ally very much appreciated. I have shared them with my faculty and most of them have been implemented.

There are but a handful of weeks left of school, and we are looking forward to a strong end of the year. We will do everything we can to keep your chil-dren successfully engaged and productive.

In the next couple of weeks, we will be communicating strictly developed protocols for returning books and picking up any remaining supplies that your child may have left in school.

This era of Politz Hebrew Academy has been unique and challenging, but it has also been one of growth and perseverance.

May the S’Yata D’Shmaya (Help from Above) continue with each step that we take.

With continued best wishes,

Mrs. Katz

EITC FOR BUSINESSES AND INDIVIDUALS A huge opportunity has just become available for both Business and Individual tax liabilities. Additional funds are available for individuals and, a Business can now participate through the Special Purpose Entities. By businesses participating this way, they do not go through the lottery as in the past!

✓ You can RE-DIRECT your PA tax liability to fund scholarships for Politz Hebrew Academy!

✓ The Educational Improvement Tax Credit program is a unique program of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth.

✓ Participants receive a 90% PA tax credit for participating and you also may be able to take the remaining 10% as a charitable deduction.

✓ Politz Hebrew Academy will receive 100% of the amount you contribute for scholarships to benefit students who are income-qualifying. Since over 90% of our kids need scholarships, this program is critical.

Example:

If you or your Business have a $10,000 PA tax liability, you will receive a $9,000 PA State tax credit and, you also may be able to take the remaining $1,000 as a charitable deduction. Your out-of-pocket cost for giving Politz $10,000 in scholarship dollars will be only about $600 (depending on your tax bracket).

This is an incredible way to leverage a donation to support our students.

The minimum contribution for an individual is $6,200 so you must have at least this much in PA State tax liability.

If you would like more information, I will put you in touch with Gwen Horowitz. She runs the Special Purpose Entities that facilitate participation by individuals. Your business can now also participate through these entities. You can email her at [email protected].

Please let me know of your interest.
