SUMMER BAND—The Summer Band meets throughout the summer to work on new music

and help retain knowledge learned throughout the school year. The Summer Band will

perform in an evening concert on Thursday, August 9.

For: 5th—8th grade students (2018/2019 school year)

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:45-11:45AM

Cost: $75 for the entire summer

Requirements: Prior knowledge on a musical instrument is suggested.

Anyone with at least one year of practice on an instrument or any student who has been a member of the Advanced or Beginning bands.

SHOW CHOIR—Be a part of St. Veronica’s Show Choir named “Dynamix.” Students will learn

to harmonize popular songs while following a choreographed routine. Be sure to wear

comfortable clothes and gym shoes. No prior dance experience is required. The Show Choir

will perform in an evening concert on Thursday, August 9.

For: 7th and 8th grade students (2018/2019 school year)

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:30-1:45PM

Cost: $90 for the entire summer

Requirements: None

SUMMER MUSICAL—Learn the basics (grades 3-5) or advanced elements (grades 6-8) of

musical theatre! Students will gain knowledge on how to audition, act, dance, and so

much more all while performing in a real Summer Musical! The musical performances

will take place in the evening on Tuesday, August 14.

For: 3rd—5th grade students (2018/2019 school year) perform in a smaller musical; 6th-8th grade students (2018/2019 school year) perform in a more advanced musical

When: Grades 3-5: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:45-10:45AM

Grades 6-8: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:45-2:45PM

Cost: $90 for the entire summer

Requirements: Auditions will take place during class in the early weeks of

summer.

2018 All classes are taught by Mr. Gardner.

Classes take place every week on Tuesdays & Thursdays and begin on June 5th & 7th.

There will be no classes on June 26 & 28. There may be one or two other days off once the whole summer schedule is planned.

There will be an altered schedule during VBS (July 10 & 12)

Final class day is August 9 (except for students in Summer Musical—August 14)

TECHNICAL THEATRE CLASS I—Have you ever wanted to learn how to run the microphones or lights during a musical? Students in this class will learn all the aspects of backstage work: sound, lights, set creation, backstage terminology, and even how to be an effective stage manager! Technical Theatre Class will also help work all backstage elements during our Summer Musical performance on August 14.

TECHNICAL THEATRE CLASS II - Designed for those students who have already taken the first Tech Class. This class joins the Technical Theatre I class mid-summer (July 10 or 12) as they help build, paint, create, and run all backstage elements for the Summer Musical performance on August 14.

For: 5th - 8th grade students (2017/2018 school year)

When: Once a week (Tuesdays or Thursdays) for 45 minutes

Cost: $10 each week

Requirements: Minimum 3 students per class. Students in this class will work in the backstage crew for the Summer Musical on Tuesday, August 14.

BEGINNING PIANO—Discover the basics to playing piano and begin learning how to read music at the same time! Students in this class will play on a school piano and read songs from a beginner’s piano book .

For: 2nd—8th grade students (2018/2019 school year)

When: Once a week (Tuesdays or Thursdays) for 30 minutes

Cost: $100 for the whole summer (including book fee)

Requirements: Minimum 3 students per class. Students involved are encouraged to have a piano or some sort of keyboard at home to practice.

INSTRUMENTS: 101—Have you been interested in playing an instrument but never got to join band? Or perhaps you are in the band but want to upgrade or learn to play a different instrument. Discover the basics to playing any of the band instruments! Learn the basics or improve on what you already know—every student will get individualized instruction to help them succeed at a pace best for them.

For: 5th - 8th grade students (2018/2019 school year)

When: Once a Week (Tuesdays or Thursdays) for 30 minutes

Cost: $10 each week plus a one time $10 book fee

Requirements: Minimum 3 students per class. Students involved are required to have a band instrument. A limited quantity of band instruments are also available at St. Veronica to borrow at no cost for the summer and will be offered at a first-come, first served basis. Or one can be rented at Buddy Rogers for a monthly fee.

ST. VERONICA JUNIOR CHOIR—Last summer’s Junior Choir was such a big hit that we decided to bring it back! Elementary students will love singing and dancing along to some fun and energetic songs that they will learn in class! The Junior Choir will perform in an evening concert on August 9.

For: 1st - 5th grade students (2018/2019 school year)

When: Once a week (Thursdays) from 9:00-9:45AM

Cost: $50 for entire summer

Requirements: Minimum 10 students in choir.

Summer Music Classes

This summer, students have the opportunity to register for summer music classes. These classes are designed to be fun and a great way to keep children involved in a music activity throughout the summer. Many of these opportunities are not available during a typical music class during the school year, so this is also a great way to expand their horizons in the field of music. Descriptions of each class, including costs and requirements are located on the Summer Music Classes flyer attached to this form. Students are welcome to sign up for as many classes as they’d like! If you’re going on vacation and are going to miss some—that’s OK. These classes are designed to be relaxed and easy to pick up where you left off.

If you would like to register your child for Summer Music Classes, please fill out this form and return to Mr. Gardner no later than Friday, May 18. A complete schedule with class dates will be sent home via email on the last week of school. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Gardner (adam.gardner@stveronica.org).
