Dear Parents / Guardians,

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Miss May’s class to participate in a Tesco ‘Farm to Fork’ trail on Tuesday 30th September 2014. This educational visit will support our study of Harvest over the past week, focussing on fruits and vegetables; their journey from the farm to the table. The Tesco ‘Farm to Fork’ trails are designed to increase children’s awareness of where their food comes from and to encourage healthier lifestyles. I appreciate that the trip has been arranged at short notice, however the trip will provide a valuable opportunity to enrich your child’s knowledge and understanding of the processes involved in food production. The children will have the opportunity to explore the supermarket, visiting the different areas and engaging in exciting games and activities under the direction of the Tesco staff.

We will be leaving school at 08:50 and returning from Tesco, Lowestoft at 11:45. We will be using Belle Coaches on this visit and a voluntary contribution of £1.10 per child is requested.

A voluntary contribution is required for this trip; this visit cannot proceed unless enough voluntary contributions are made. This will cover the hire of the coach, the majority of which is being covered by Tesco.

Your child is insured by Suffolk County Council. Any personal items that they bring will not be covered. There will be no refund of the whole or part of the payment unless at the discretion of the headteacher or school governors.

If your child would like to participate in this visit, please complete the enclosed parental consent form (PC/07) and return to the school office with your voluntary contribution. Your child will not be able to go without this form being completed.

Your child will need to wear school uniform and clothing suitable for the weather. It could be wet so please make sure that a waterproof coat is available for your child. Your child must bring a water bottle. We will be taking free school fruit for a morning snack. Children will be returning to school in time for lunch.

A number of parent helpers will be needed for this trip. If you would like to help on this trip, please speak to the school office staff who will be able to check if you have a current CRB clearance.
