Senior ClassSaltwater’s brand new Senior’s Group launched in February, with the assistance of volunteer Shagufta Panchal and a group of enthusiastic community centre regulars. Since then, it’s been growing and going from strength to strength. During 2019, Wyndham City is pleased to be offering more than 15 FREE training sessions to support local volunteers, residents and community organisations in Wyndham. The Volunteer & Community Group Training calendar offers a suite of topics, ranging from governance in community groups, to planning an event, or attracting new volunteers. Training is free of charge and available to Wyndham residents, volunteers and community organisations. Please note session dates and times may be subject to change.

Art Saltwater Art Studio is evolving! Over the last couple of months the studio has transitioned into an artist-led space, that is, a space in which the artists accessing it are now working together collectively to develop and run it. Along with the established offerings that Saltwater Art Studio has become known for (it’s ceramics, painting, and youth offerings), there will also be a variety of short-term and one-off activities to fill out the schedule, which will change each quarter. The Learning Festival is in its fourth year now, and we are keen to build on our success and engage new groups and people in sharing and celebrating lifelong learning. Activities for the festival should be free during the Festival, in Wyndham and during the week of 1-8 September.
The learning events can be big or small, for any age group and for various interests. The Festival’s diverse range of activities include gardening, craft, cooking, music, sports, coding, IT, art, and environmental activities – there is something for everyone! Signature events in 2019 will include Wyndham’s own war on waste with a keynote by Craig Reucassel; the Young Scientist of Wyndham Competition; the Wyndham Park Party in the Precinct and the ever-popular Rhyme Time at the Werribee Zoo.
So, whether it be a talk, tour, display, presentation, exhibition, film, tryout class, workshop, game, competition, open day etc., as long it is about free learning in Wyndham we are interested to hear your ideas.
