Job Title: Marketing and Communications Coordinator Reports to: Director of Development Status: Regular, Full Time, Exempt ORGANIZATION AND MISSION Literacy Connects is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission of “Connecting people of all ages to a world of opportunities through literacy and creative expression.” The organizational core values of Personal Power, Collaboration, Education and Advocacy guide their work and decision making. Literacy Connects believes in transformative learning through high-touch, individualized, innovative literacy and arts programming that improves skills, behaviors and attitudes. POSITION SUMMARY The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will develop and guide the strategy for all communications and public relations messaging to consistently articulate Literacy Connects mission and impact. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will ensure that Literacy Connects is viewed as a primary literacy organization in Tucson and will work closely with the Management Team as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Communication Duties In collaboration with the Development and Management Teams, evaluate and advance the annual marketing/communications plan to reach a wide variety of stakeholders through various channels Execute and assess communications strategies to create momentum and awareness of Literacy Connects in the community Coordinate development, distribution, and maintenance of all internal and external print and electronic collateral including but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, website, social media, blogs, e-mail and annual reports Maintain webpage and social media presence, ensuring that new and consistent information (article links, photos, stories, and events) is posted regularly in alignment with the annual marketing/communications plan Updated 11/15/18

Lead the generation of online content engaging audience segments and producing measurable actions Serve as primary contact for outside contract and volunteer design, marketing and PR services Manage all media contacts Write press releases, PSAs, blogs & articles regularly

Development Duties Maintain confidentiality of all Development-related activities Assist with planning and logistics of annual fundraising activities Assist with direct mail Other responsibilities, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence" High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position

communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members,

volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new

initiatives Computer savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Some database experience preferred (ideally DonorPerfect or Raiser’s Edge) Overall comfort level working with general computer and graphics applications (internet, Google docs,

Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, InDesign, Publisher, Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop etc.) Minimum of three years’ experience in an office setting Experience in a nonprofit organization is a plus

COMPENSATIONLiteracy Connects offers a salary range of $30,000 - $40,000 annually based on education, experience, and ASU Lodestar Non-Profit Salary Guidelines, competitive benefits package.
