Proposition 54 - the Classification by Race, Ethnicity, Color, or National Origin initiative (CRECNO) - will ban California public agencies from collecting or using information about race, ethnicit y, color or national origi n. We need this informa tion. Latinos are more likely to die from complicatio ns of diabetes. African America ns die from heart diseas e at a higher rate. That's why over 40 leading health organizationso ppose Proposition 54. Prop 54 will ban the state from collecting information law enforcemen t and local communities use to combat hate crimes and prevent racial profiling. The State Attorney General, law enforcement groups, and the Anti-Defamation League all oppose Proposition 54.
