PROP 54:
PROP 54 IS BAD FOR CALIFORNIA
Prop 54 will wipe out data health professionals use to fight chronic disease, develop effective prevention programs, and save lives. The data tell us that white women are diagnosed with breast cancer at a higher rate.Asian Americans are at a higher risk for Hepatitis-B. Latinos are more likely to diefrom complications of diabetes. African Americans die from heart disease at a higher rate. That's why over 40 leading health organizationsoppose Proposition 54.
Prop 54 will ban the state from collecting information law enforcement and local
communities use to combat hate crimes and prevent racial profiling. The State Attorney General, law enforcement groups, and the Anti-Defamation Leagueall oppose Proposition 54.

Take Action
Prop 54 will undermine the state's efforts to hold our schools accountable. The California Public School Accountability Act is designed to achieve high standardsof learning for all children. This initiative lets school administrators off the hook whenthey fail to close the achievement gap. The California State PTA, the CaliforniaFederation of Teachers, the University of California, and State Superintendent of Schools Jack O'Connell all oppose Proposition 54.
Prop 54 will take away the information people of every race, ethnicity andnational origin use to protect themselves from discrimination in employment, education, and state contracting.Progress in fighting discrimination is made with data. Without the facts, there are noremedies. That's why civil rights advocates oppose Proposition 54. And it's also whyeven opponents of affirmative action - like Tom Woods, the author of Proposition 209 -oppose Proposition 54.
