    District

    Rep. Deborah Pryce is running for her eighth term in this district, which she has represented since 1993. She has not faced

    a significant challenge in recent cycles. In 2004, she won with 60% of the vote. This year, however, she faces a strongchallenge from Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy. Its a tough year for Republicans in Ohio and Kilroy maybe poised to take advantage and oust an entrenched incumbent the Cook Political Report ranks this race LeaningRepublican.

    The District

    Most 15th District voters live in FranklinCounty, which includes the western half ofColumbus. The district also encompassesparts of Madison and Union counties.Much like the rest of Ohio, the area wasclosely divided in the 2004 election; Bush

    took more votes in Madison and Union,and Kerry won Franklin County. Ohio isturning rapidly against the RepublicanParty, with a governor and majorfundraiser both convicted of crimes and arepresentative implicated in the Abramoffinvestigation. President Bushs approvalrating has been in the 30s for more than ayear in the state.

    About Mary Jo Kilroy

    After serving on the Columbus School Board, Mary Jo Kilroy was elected to the Franklin County Board of

    Commissioners in 2000 and 2004. As Commissioner, Kilroy has drawn praise for balancing county budgets and runningan effective, efficient government. Kilroy intends to strengthen Medicare, raise the minimum wage, protect SocialSecurity and balance the federal budget.     Pryce is a key member of the GOP House leadership team. Her position as Conference Chair makes her the fourth-highest-ranking member of the party hierarchy. From her positions on the Rules and Financial Services Committees, shehas been an integral part of the Republicans efforts on tort reform, Medicare and tax policy. She sponsored thecontroversial Medicare Part D program and strongly supported Bushs Social Security plans. Pryce votes with PresidentBush 88% of the time. www.pryce4congress.com

    Fundraising and PollingAs a highly-placed member of the Republican Party, Pryce is a powerful fundraiser. She has taken in over $2 million,60% of which is from PACs, primarily representing the insurance, medical and banking industries. She retains over $1.8million on hand. Kilroy has brought in over $1 million in total receipts, 74% of which is from individual contributors. Hercash on hand total is more than $775,000. No public polling is available.
