Reflection A Vision for Community The following words are that of a Jesuit priest who died in a very poor, black area of Washington DC, where he gained a wonderful reputation for creating shelters for the homeless, providing meals and medical, dental and legal help. Among his papers after his death at age 80 was found this note, which he had written to himself. Then, in my dreams of the Last Day, Our Lord will come back and reward us for having, by his grace, straightened the world out, and having the poor competent and the rich thoughtful and the well- protected kindly and generous and involved, and the educated enthralled with the kingdom of God, and the spiritual able to perceive him in such a way as to make him visible to us.The words in the tradition of our Mercy charism, sum up well our hopes for all of our students being informed, being involved and making a difference. Principal’s Report Canberra Leadership Camp This week our Year 11 prospective leaders took part in the Canberra Leadership Camp. Once again students from Sacred Heart joined with leaders from FCJ College Benalla to participate in the three day experi- ence. This year students visited the High Court and Parliament House where they were spoken to by Members for Indi, Cathy McGowan and Member for Murray, Damian Drum. Students had the opportunity to attend question time in the Senate and the House of Representatives. In addition, students visited the Australian institute of Sport and Telstra Tower. This trip would not have been possible without the support of the Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club whose ongoing support has allowed this Leadership Camp to continue for the past three years. Year 12 Graduation Liturgy This year’s Graduation Liturgy and Award Ceremony will be held in the Sacred Heart Church next Wednesday, October 25. We are delighted to have the Di- rector of Catholic Education for the Sandhurst Diocese in attendance for this important event. On behalf of all our community, I wish our Year 12 and Year 11 students undertaking acceleration, all the best as they prepare for the upcoming exams. End of year Events Parents and guardians are advised that shortly a detailed letter will be sent home outlining the organizational requirements for key events including the Head Start Program, book collection, First aid course, Final Mass and Award Ceremony and the College dance. This correspondence will contain important dates and key information regarding these events.

Sports ReportsOn Monday the 16th of October, 19 of our brightest shooters took off to the city of Benalla to take part in the Annual Benalla P-12 Shoot. Each student had 40 shots for the day, trying to hit 20 targets. Sam Marshall was the standout shooter, hitting five out of his first 10, then 10 out of his next 10, an unbelievable effort. Molly and Jack Burke also placed very well, with Ben Griffen and Thomas Hicks also right up there. All par-ticipants competed very well and did our school proud. Thanks Tony Burke, Trish Burke, Jo Ford, and Mr. Lean for their assistance on the day, it would not have run as smoothly without all of you.Damon Hemphill
