About UsProbably, many of you wonder who or what exactly Team4PHoto is.

Let us introduce ourself. Team4Photo is, of will be, the newest portal in Romania, that wishes to bring together photographers, models, MUA, HS, model agencies, photo studios, and many more, under the same roof. We want to become the number 1 portal in Romania, based on quality and quantity of the content.

To achieve this, we need all passionate people for photography, modeling, MUA, HS that choose this as a life style or as a profession. We need you to inspire us, to find inspiration from one another, to work together, learn together, grow together. We will grow with you.

What we offer is simple: any photographer, model, MUA, HS, modeling agency, photo studio, etc can make an account in the webportal, and upload his photos and arrange them into galleries and albums. But this is not all. We are not just a simple portal where you upload your pics. NO!! We, Team4Photo, we give you the chance to find teammates, to work together on different projects, paid of TFCD. You decide this.

Because we said, we want you to inspire us and others, here is the proof: our first issue of our magazine. Every month we will publish the work and portfolio of a team ( photographer, model, MUA, HS) that inspired us. We hope you will also be inspired by them.

With Team4Photo, you will never lack of inspiration or a team for your projects.

Team up 4 Photography!

4. Cum percepi piata pe plan local in acest domeniu?

ori nici macar in domeniu.

Fotografia a venit dintr-o nevoie atipica. Cumva eu aici ma situez, in zona de experiment in studio. In general in fotografiile mele creez o realitate alternativa, cu legi proprii.

Desi era in interior, cladirea avea luminator, insa apunea soarele si a trebuit sa ne miscam repede.

Interview with the photographer1. Tell us something about youI am animaT, a creative entity focusing on works of image, installations or design.

2. There are not many female photographer. Do you think this is an advantage for you? There are advantages such as models are much more open to pose in hypostases they wouldn’t feel comfortable in with a man, therefore being one of them, the only thing concerning us is the end result of the photo session. Disadvantages would be that there are some atypical locations where as a women, I wouldn’t have gone without a male assistant, like abandoned buildings or uninhabited areas in the field, on the other hand, when it comes to access to guarded places, as a woman I think I can get in much easier. They tend not to believe I could do something serious or more than some harmless selfies.

3. When did you discover passion for photohraphy? What kind of photography do you like? How did you get to fashion? The photography came from an atypical need. I had moved to Bucharest and I loved the architecture of old buildings. I used to walk across the street from them and make sketches, but I would have deepened some of them. This is how I started to take pictures and finish details at home. This until I stopped drawing and started just to take pictures, I started to play with lights and shadows in black and white, because it was also like a drawing, but much faster. I would practically say I came to do photography out of laziness :)). Subsequently I started taking a lot of conceptual pictures. Very late I had the courage to take pictures of people, after nearly 3 years of capturing shadows and urban geometries. I thought and I still think that there are several stages one must pass through in photography, in order to be good. You cannot start with nudes. That I think is the final stage of my learning and the end of the road in photography. I am not there yet. This is why I affirm that at first it is natural to shoot still life and small objects that you can move around to create the picture and composition, and to start in black and white, to remain only with shadows, lights and shapes. Later you introduce colour. You learn the camera settings shooting nature, with large exposures, watching out for sunrises and the movements of stars at night. Then you pass to spontaneous captures in the urban and then portraits, increasing the frame and starting to shoot full body in studio. Somehow I am currently here, in the studio experience area. I like very much to combine other skills of mine like drawing, digital painting, post processing or 3D, everything to obtain in the end a visual work that defies reality, maybe through its colour tones, maybe through its light or through

Page 6: 01 team4photo magazine 31 09 2014

atypical elements introduced in frames. I generally create an alternative reality in my photos, with own laws. Characters often levitate or are placed in a retro future.

4. How do you see the market locally? Photographs that exceed my current level of skills inspire and frustrate me at the same time. This is a good thing. They make me take a piece of paper, sketch a concept, go to the studio or to a location

and shoot, come back to the computer and let my imagination take shape for the others.

5. What kind of preferences do you have, when it comes to shooting location, crew and customer?Over the years I’ve had quite a few troubles with unreliable models which failed to show up in time for the shootings or were unprepared or cancelled. This is actually valid for every member of the team. Somehow it is more difficult to organize when it comes to bringing 4-5 people at the same place, considering that all of them also have other jobs, often even in other fields. Even I can be included here. Regarding the customers, I took a decision long ago, that I am too much of an artist to take pictures on commission with strict and exact demands. Fortunately there are magazines asking me for editorials, but without asking to many details about what I intend to do, being confident in a good end result that they can publish, so I have green light.

6. What are your objectives in photography? Most importantly for me is that everyone on my team enjoys the work they do at that moment and is happy with the end results. Valid also for me.

7. What advice can you give the rookies? I think I would suggest that they follow the same steps as me, so they can master all variables, starting with colours, subject, light, shapes, although I know some very good photographers who began directly with portraits and insisted until they came out perfectly. It depends on which “school” do you want to be part of. My rigor is probably old fashioned. And to promote, just to work as much as possible, even without being

paid, if the respective photo shooting could bring them a plus in their portfolio.

8. Tell us about this shooting, details about lighting scheme and gear you usedIt was rather complicated with the access to the location. Even after we obtained it with the help of the boys from Pegas bikes, we still had permanently 3 guards and their little jokes by our sides. Then came the boys from S.T.U.P with the car, accompanied by some other 6 viewers, plus my assistant came with other 3 friends, and the model

came with her boyfriend, so with stylist and everyone, we were a total of 15 people, fact that made the whole shooting more difficult. People were careless, entering the shooting area, there was noise and I was loosing the light. The car was not holding on the slope so we had to put it transversely on the street, the outfit was dirty, it was generally complicated and a total chaos. I left there thinking I didn’t have any OK capture and that everything had been in vain. I generally have more quiet shootings and I try to limit the presence of a lot of people, who make everyone to be tense, especially the model. In terms of light, it is exclusively natural light and sometimes I used a reflector. Although it was inside, the building had a top light, but the sun was setting and we had to move fast. Overall it was a difficult shooting with a pretty unprofessional allure because of the chaos. But in the end I think only the final result counts.

3. Ai un stil anume preferat? Munca cui te inspira? Prefer naturalul. Mai exact prefer sa tratez tenul cu respect si sa-l ingrijesc in masura posibilitatilor: observ nevoile tenului si ofer consiliere “proprietarului” in timp ce aplic produsele potrivite

pentru pregatirea tenului. Imi place textura pielii, imi plac trasaturile fiecarui individ in parte.

4. Cum percepi piata pe plan local in acest domeniu? Depinde cu cine ai noroc sa colaborezi. O sa incerc sa impart piata in

3 mari categorii: piata “rece”, piata “calda” si piata “semi calda”.

dar tot in ciorba il bagi!”. Piata “calda” -unde am eu norocul sa lucrez cel

In piata “semi calda” dai de oameni

Page 8: 01 team4photo magazine 31 09 2014

support my countless expenses (literally) to have a complete kit, consisting in quality professional products and tools. After I finished school I took my kit in my arms and started to participate in photo shoots. I gradually started not to have time for graphics. … OK! I’ll be honest: The truth is I had found that job I was talking about previously, the profession that makes me 100% happy, that of make-up artist. How long did the learning period last? I’m still learning. After theory classes, tutorials, seminars, courses, books, magazines, etc. followed hours of practice. Many! Having a self-educated easy and inventive character, it was very easy for me to learn from all sorts of strange and unexpected situations. But yeah, I’m still learning! From each makeup and from each image of quality that I see.

3. Do you prefer a particular style? Whose work inspires you? I prefer neutral. More exactly I prefer treating skin with respect and taking care of it as much as I can: I observe the needs of the skin and offer counseling to the “holder” while applying products suitable for preparing the skin. I like skin texture; I like the features of each individual. I like to find the strong point and what is giving it personality. Therefore I like a light makeup, a healthy makeup which allows skin to breathe, hides small imperfection and highlights a healthy person who is proud of her unique features. Most often I’m inspired by the person that I’m going to work with, both by her appearance as well as by her personality. But inspiration can also come from movies, magazines, from everything visible… from the work of people who create the beautiful. 4. How do you perceive the local market in this field? It depends on who you have the luck to work with. I will TRY to divide the market in 3 main categories: the “cold” market, the “warm” market and the “semi-warm” market. The “cold” market is the market….just as at the market: “buy from me because we are neighbors! My greens are a little dry but… you still use them for a soup! The “warm” market, where I am lucky to work most of the times, is great! It is there where

you meet professionals, people who know how to get the job done, people with whom you have what to talk to about and what to learn from, and who don’t forget to pay or reward you for your work (I refer here to THAT satisfactory look that thanks to the whole team including you, the right thing will come out). It’s really nice to work with warm people! O the “semi-warm” market you come across “mixed” people, not too confident but not necessarily with bad

or wrong intentions. People you meet on the “semi-warm” market may surprise you by moving their job on the “cold” or “warm” market, depending on their will and possibility.

5. If you could choose who to work with on the local market, which photographer/model would you choose? I’m extremely lucky! I work exactly with whom I wish to from the bottom of my heart. I wished for it so much that it

1. Tell us something about you Hello! I’m Raluca! Still young and full of enthusiasm, a realistic dreamer.

2. How did you start working as a MUA/HS? How long did your learning period last?

I’ve had artistic inclinations since I was little. After having dallied with the Faulty of Architecture, I started working in digital arts: logo design, web design, and design of almost everything. After a few years of working in this area, I realized it wasn’t satisfying me 100%. I was still looking for that job to which I could dedicate my time without feeling tired and without it turning into an unpleasant routine. Therefore besides the graphics tablet, pencils, pens and brushes for painting, I embraced a set of makeup brushes. I felt the need of doing everything by the book, slowly but surely and to the point, so six years ago I enrolled in a school of cosmetology. Then I attended a make-up course … total disappointment when it came to the makeup part. It was there where I learned what NOT to do, how NOT to combine, how NOT to apply and what NOT to use. But what about WHAT TO DO?!I started to buy books, to search for material everywhere. In the meantime I continued working in graphics, and invested all the money earned this way in a make-up school, which I attended with great lust for 9 months. After graduation I continued with the graphics, to

Machiajul a fost unul grafic: ten palid, geometrie in zona ochilor. Produse?

Interview with MUA / HS

Interview with the ModelUnfortunatelly we could not contact the model. The model you see in this images is ALina Merisor. You can find her on Facebook by searching for her name. We are sure you will be stunned by what you will discover.

became reality! Therefore I have the possibility to choose who I am going to work with; I just have to really wish for it, to feel the butterflies in my stomach and bam! It will happen! Oh… was I supposed to mention names? Well for names you can access my Facebook page and you will find the majority of them there.

6. What are your career goals? Professional goals: As much happiness as possible for me and my collaborators.

7. Could you give some advice to those who wish to take the same path of MUA /HS? I sincerely hope that only the truly passionate take this path. And by passion I mean many hours of study (both theory: cosmetics, ingredients, products, HYGIENE, techniques, as well as AESTHETIC) lots of hours of work with the smile on the face. Back to aesthetics: study aesthetics. Not everything purple is beautiful, not everything bushy on

1. Spune-ne cate ceva despre tine

Buna. Asta deorece, mentorul meu, dna Prof. Univ. Dr. Unda Popp ne-a facut cunostinta , in timpul studentiei, cu teatrul. Dar si pentru ca ultimul an de facultate l-am petrecut la Roma, avand o bursa Erasmus, in cadrul Accademiei di Belle Arti, si acolo am avut ocazia sa studiez doua cursuri noi, care nu exista in programa sectiei de design vestimentar din Romania - Scenografie si Costum pentru spectacol .

2. Care sunt obiectivele tale profesionale?Am avut deja cateva colaborari cu teatrul Masca si as dori sa continui in cest domeniu.

someone’s eyelashes will highlight the eyes, and not large amounts of products will produce a nice effect. Back to hygiene: hygiene is the strength of this job, next to the aesthetic sense. Clean, disinfect, don’t apply the brush or the product from one person to another etc. You must feel as clean as a doctor before entering the operating room. Respect yourselves and your clients!

8. Can you tell us something about this session? How did you do the makeup / hair styling? What products did you use (no brand).I felt great! I like being surrounded and working with lots of people. I hadn’t met many of them before that, I was glad I had this opportunity and we still keep in touch. The makeup was a graphic one: pale skin, geometry in the eye area. Products? After having prepared the skin for makeup, I applied foundation, corrector, blush, a fine touch of eyeshadow for sculpting and creamy eyeliner. That was all.

intai.

Dr. Unda Popp.

1. Tell us something about yourself Hi, I am Andreea Stoian. I am attending the master of Decorative Art and Design faculty, clothing design, within the National University of Arts, Bucharest. During the first years of study, thanks to my mentor, Prov. Univ. Dr Unda Popp who introduced us to theatre, I discovered my passion for theatre and film costumes. To this also contributed the fact that I studied in Rome at Accademia di Belle Arti for one year, thanks to an Erasmus scholarship, where I attended 2 new classes that are not available in Romania.

2. What are your professional objectives? I had some collaborations with MAsca theatre, and I wish to remain active in this domain. I’d love to create clothing for performings, videos, shows, theatre and movies. Clothing that can not be found in the shops, clothing that has a story, a concept.

3.How did you discover your passion for clothing design? How did you get to fashion?I started very early, when I was about 5 years old. First, in my grandfather workshop. He was a tailor. I was fascinated to create clothing for my dolls, using scrap material from his workshop. Then, I started to create clothes for myself, out of my mother old dresses. No measurements, just intuition. At 12 I cut all my mothers dresses. Then, at 14 I started to draw.

4. Which designers inspire you?Of the ones that wrote history, I like Rei Kawakubo and Junya Watanabe for their courage to change perception about fashion. They deconstructed it. From the new wave, I like Iris von Herpen and Gareth Pugh, for surprising me every season with their perseverance , for keeping their identity and for not being too commercial.

5. How do you see the local market?I think the market for designer clothing is a pretty small niche , but it is there and it is growing. There is no fashion industry in Romania. Everyone does what one can do. Luckily we can see every year an increase in consumer interest for something else then “mall uniforms”.

6. If you could choose from the local market, what photographer and model would be of your choice?I worked very well with the following photographers : Ionut Serban, Mario Pancu si Cristiana Apostol and models: Oana Edu. Anyway, I recommend working with professional

models or actresses, as they are more aware of their body and mimics.

7. What would you advise newcomers, in order to succeed in this domain?

I believe it is essential to know a littlbe bit from everything, but also have something that defines you, to find your way. For sure, you have to know how to draw, to know materials, to experiment as much as possible, participate at different contests. You win a lot by participating, even if you don’t always go home with a prize. You learn from your mistakes.

As for promotion, I recommend to attend the local profile fairs but also keep in mind that the online part has to be well done also.

8. Tell us something about the creations in the photographsThis were my collection for my exam, coordinated by Prof. Univ. Dr. Unda Popp. The collection is named Genom, and has as point of start universal mathematics, geometry in particular. The title itself is a wordplay with multiple meanings, that send us to : GEN / NOM/ OM ( human)/ GEO/ GEOMETRY/ GENOM

Dupa cina, soacra intreaba: - Ei, ti-a placut mancarea?.

A photographer returns from an expedition in Tibet. Mother-in-law calls him and invites him to dinner, and tells him to bring to see “those pictures”. With no other choice, the man selects and prints some of the photos which seem most successful, and goes to honor the invitation. His mother-in-law looked at the pictures, and says: - Yes, beautiful pictures, I think you had a very good camera! He says nothing and begins to eat. After dinner, his mother-in-law asks: - Well, did you like the food?- Yes, tasty, I think you have a very good stove and some very good pans!

You now have the chance to introduce your team to the world. HOW? It is very simple. Send an email to us with the picture(s) you want us to publish, accompanied with the lighting scheme and we will put them on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/team4photo) for the public to vote.
