Strategic Focus Synergy is uniquely positioned to capitalize on attractive opportunities in the WTE space and will initially target projects with one or more of the following characteristics:

•High off-take markets – markets with high power pricing

•High tipping fee or high btu content waste environments – locations or waste streams that have high costs of disposal or high btu content waste streams

•“Shovel ready” – projects that have multiple facets of a complete project (WSA, PPA, etc.) but unable to finance for a variety of reasons

•“Oil on the margin” pricing – markets that rely on diesel generation as their marginal product for electricity generation

Our Process Synergy offers a turnkey WTE solution capable of disposing of a wide range of solid wastes. Our process is innovative and comprehensive by providing a solution that is environmentally friendly, economically viable and a highly efficient method for transforming waste into energy. Synergy designs, permits, finances, constructs and operates its project facilities utilizing solid waste generated by municipalities (MSW) and disposed of by local governments. Typical project includes:

Long-term Waste Supply Agreement (WSA) Long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Fully wrapped Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract Full interconnection agreement Financeable gasification technology

Technology Agnostic Synergy believes that we separate ourselves from competitors in the industry by remaining “technology agnostic”. Our competition is attempting to develop WTE projects by pushing a certain technology.

We understand that every project is unique and may require a different technology solution. By examining many development factors such as the feedstock, off-take needs, real estate limitations and emissions restrictions of each project we will then select the best vendor for that project. When selecting a technology we put a premium on vendors with operating history and a sufficient balance sheet to allow for project finance.

Diesel Price Volatility

This chart represents the volatility in Gulf Coast Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel prices since September of 2007. The M6 line represents that 68% of the time (or one standard deviation) pricing moves a certain percentage from its mean or average over a rolling 6-month time frame. The M12 line represents the same equation over a 12-month time frame. Over the past 4 years, 6-month diesel price volatility has been no less than 50%. Oil on the Margin locations view this volatility as one of the prime reasons why they are attempting to diversify their generation away from fuel oil.
