A WORD FROM DR. STEWART
With prom and spring weddings around the corner, many people start thinking about what they can do to look great for all of those photos. After the fancy clothes, teeth whitening is often one of the ideas that pops up. Of all of the cosmetic procedures that are available (veneers, Invisalign, bonding, etc.), teeth whitening offers one of the quickest routes to a healthier, brighter smile than anything else. Many who want to whiten their teeth have questions about what product to use as well as the safety of tooth whitening. There are many different products available, and most are safe and effective for whitening teeth. While there are home whitening kits available at most retail stores, they do not offer the professional strength you can get here at Smile Savers Dentistry. We offer two professional strength options in our office. Venus White Pro is the high-performance whitening system specially formulated for simple at-home use. We will work with you to create custom-fitted trays and we also have touch-up kits available for your trays. With Venus White Pro, you can whiten day or night for a bright, radiant smile. Venus White Ultra offers a quick, convenient and easy way to whiten, without customized trays. These trays are pre-filled with mint-flavored gel, disposable and made of a super-thin material offering comfort and effective whitening in just 7 days! Keep in mind that all teeth do not whiten the same. And while teeth whitening is not a permanent solution, it’s very effective with results that can last for years. Touch-up kits can be purchased from our office and used every 6–12 months to enhance and maintain your whitening results. Call the office today if you would like to whiten your teeth before your next special event. Check out our special whitening offer on the backside of this newsletter - just in time for prom and spring weddings!
Regards, Dr. Stewart

MARCH MADNESS IS BACK AT SMILE SAVERS DENTISTRYMarch is always a fun time around the office. It’s the month when we bring the hoops back out for our version of March
Madness. Okay, so it’s really only ONE hoop... but it’s still fun! And there’s no need to worry about
those crazy brack-ets. During the month
of March, patients are encouraged to try their luck at sinking a basket. If you suc-ceed, you are rewarded with 5% off your cleaning/exam visit. So if you have an appointment this month get ready to take your best shot.
SUCCESS STORIES - What Patients Are Saying“I was greatly surprised with this office, everyone was super nice and friendly, so you are immediately put at ease when you enter. I love the fact that they play music or you are encouraged to put your headphones on so you are comfortable. The music really gives you something to concentrate on while you are being worked on. The doctor here is top-notch, he makes sure he explains everything he is doing or about to do so no need to worry about that surprise pain step. It was a really awesome experience because everything was explained to me beforehand and the technology made the whole visit as great of an experi-ence as any dentist visit can be.” ~ B.B., Waldorf
“I broke my tooth Sunday night on Halloween candy. I called Monday morning to see how long I would have to wait. They fit me right in that morning. The procedure went quickly and I was able to leave that morning!” ~ R.S., Columbia
Smile Savers Dentistry Receives Award - Outstanding Volunteer ServiceThe Howard County Public School System awarded Smile Savers Dentistry for their Outstanding Volunteer Service during National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM) last month. Staff members wrapped up NCDHM by visiting students at Lake Elkhorn Middle School. Dental hygienists Michaela Paschke and Bonnie Carroll, along with assistant Deanna Rohrman and Kelly Green talked to students about the importance of good oral hygiene. They went over important healthy home care habits such as brushing and flossing their teeth and also
demonstrated what can happen if you don’t brush. Michaela Paschke said “I thoroughly enjoyed going to Lake Elkhorn Middle School and teaching the kids about good hygiene and the risks of bad habits. It’s rewarding knowing that the kids walked away with a new outlook on taking care of their teeth.”It’s important for children to learn about proper oral hygiene. Poor oral care behavior in under 12 year-olds contributes to many American children having cavities. Tooth decay is the number one chronic illness in children with over 51 million school hours lost each year due to dental problems.
Research shows that if a child’s tooth decay goes untreated, it can lead to tooth loss, speech problems and even loss of self-esteem. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 31 percent of kindergarten and third grade children in Maryland have tooth decay that, if left untreated, can cause pain and infections that may lead to problems with eating, speaking, playing and learning. Fortunately, with good oral health care habits, tooth decay can be prevented!
Mission StatementAt Smile Savers Dentistry, we expect all of our patients to be healthier and happier during and after their treatment. Webelieve that a healthy mouth helps to make a healthy body. We will help you take care of your oral health and keep your teeth looking beautiful and feeling healthy for as long as you are a patient of ours.
