Never Give Up!

were on the verge of giving up as Christians. He said to them, “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised” (Hebrews 10:36). You should take the time read Hebrews 12:1-3. When I think about the earthly struggles that individual Christians must deal with in order to be victorious, I also think about the struggles that local churches face. It is a fact that local congregations that make up the brotherhood of churches of Christ are having to deal with uncertain times. Local church-es struggling to maintain good attendance numbers can become places of discouragement. Once discour-aged, some Christians can become hard and judgmen-tal or just give in to their discouragement. Christians and local churches must be constantly reminded that the Lord is bigger than all the mountains standing before us (Matthew 21:21). Why should we give up or even be discouraged considering all the Lord can do for us? Remember, the Lord was able to take a smooth stone and David, a man after His heart, and bring down a giant (I Samuel 16-17). He was able to bring down the wall of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-27). He was able to part the Red Sea so to rescue His people and destroy their enemy (Exodus 14). Therefore, the key is never, never, never, never, giving up on doing what is right before God, whether it is an individual Christian or a local church. We must have the faith to believe that with God’s help we will eventually experience the victory. “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the Lord” (Proverbs 21:31).
