Delegates at the conference agreed to support ongoing reconciliation efforts and

ensure that security is boosted and maintained in the Jubba region. They agreed to

an operation to comb out the Al Shabab from the areas they still control in the

region, this being implemented by the Jubba Interim Administration, the Federal

    Government and AMISOM.

Speaking during the conference, the President of the Somali Federal Government

H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud pledged the commitment of the government to

ensure that everything agreed upon is implemented.

Those regions will not be managed or led by anyone that you all are not happy

with, if you are happy with the people who signed this document then they will be

responsible according to your acceptance of them. And if you are not happy then we

must endeavor to select people who you are satisfied with. The Federal Government

will work hard to make sure everything happens in the right way, the treaty that

was signed in Addis is a huge responsibility for us to fulfill, we are witnesses for the

Somali people wherever they may be, and its not exclusive to a particular region, clan or community. We are here to work tirelessly for peace; we cannot achieve

anything without peace because it is the starting point for everything,

The conference was also attended by the Ethiopian Foreign Minister, also current

IGAD Chairperson Tedros Adhanom, who called for unity among all Somalis if long

lasting peace is to be achieved.

We should keep Somalia above all interests. Thats the only way that we will bring

unity and peace in Somalia; if we uphold Somalia above everything. By helping your

government, you are helping yourself. And I assure you on behalf of Ethiopia, as

chair of IGAD and on behalf of all the neighboring countries that we will help you inany way possible basing on your own priorities, basing on your own ownership to

    help you succeed, he appealed.

Building on earlier talks held in Addis Ababa in August, there was consensus to

ensure that all armed groups are integrated into the national army and that the

Jubba Interim government is supported to provide social services and support the

    economic development of its people.

The Jubba Interim Administration was represented by its leader Sheikh Ahmed

Mohamed who appealed for more support towards successful implementation of

    the agreement.

A follow up conference is to be held at the Kismayo Port.
